OSU's Zac Robinson tosses a pass against Texas. STEPHEN HOLMAN/Tulsa World

Two years ago, Oklahoma State won its first game on Nebraska's home field since 1960. On Oct. 24, Iowa State won at Nebraska for the first time since 1977.

In spite of playing without three offensive starters (quarterback Austen Arnaud, running back Alexander Robinson and center Reggie Stephens), and in spite of finishing with only 239 total yards, the Cyclones prevailed 9-7.

How did the Cyclones win with such a modest offense? Nebraska committed eight turnovers (three interceptions, five fumbles). On five of the offensive possessions that followed Nebraska turnovers, Iowa State netted a combined total of 8 yards.

Trio returns: Sidelined for two weeks with a hand injury, Arnaud is expected to start against OSU. Robinson has been hobbled by a groin injury but should start on Saturday. Stephens is scheduled to start only 10 days removed from an appendectomy.

Cyclone facts: The Des Moines Register reports that on Saturday, when Oklahoma State faces Iowa State at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, the Cyclones will host a Big 12 South opponent for a November game for the first time since Oklahoma visited in 1999.

ABC is televising the 2:30 p.m. OSU-Iowa State game. It will be the Cyclones' first ABC-televised home game since Nebraska visited in October 2006.

Bond reflects: After having played eight-man football at Garber High School, Brady Bond became a four-year OSU starter at right offensive tackle. Against Iowa State, he makes his 35th consecutive start and the
40th of his career overall.

Asked whether he reasonably could have envisioned becoming a four-year starter in the Big 12, Bond replied, "No, I didn't think I would start for four years. I thought I'd have a chance at some playing time. I had an opportunity, and I made the best of it."

Magic number seven: If the Cowboys prevail at Iowa State, they will have achieved a first in school history at least seven victories in four consecutive seasons. Also, OSU would reach at least the seven-win mark for the seventh time in this decade. Never before has OSU recorded seven seasons of at least seven victories in one decade.

Proficient protectors: The OSU offensive line leads the nation in fewest sacks allowed per game. Through eight games, the Cowboys have given up only four sacks. Iowa State has allowed only six sacks in nine games.

The huge Cyclone line includes 349-pound left tackle Kelechi Osemele, 333-pound center Stephens, 318-pound right guard Ben Lamaak and 338-pound right tackle Scott Haughton.

Odds and ends: OSU's Quinn Sharp now ranks third nationally in punting with a 45.3-yard average.

If the Cowboys defeat Iowa State, they will have recorded a fourth straight road victory in conference play. Since the Big 12 was formed, OSU has never prevailed in four consecutive league road games.

From 1996 through 2001, OSU was 5-13 against Big 12 North opponents. Since 2002, the Cowboys are 15-7 against the North.
