The OU blog: The heat’s still on in Norman.

NORMAN — Two more starters are out for the season for the Oklahoma Sooners.

An Oklahoma offensive line already hounded by penalties and shoddy blocking will be without starting left guard Brody Eldridge, Sooners coach Bob Stoops said Monday night after practice. Stoops also announced that defensive end Auston English is out for the year.

Eldridge suffered a shoulder injury against Nebraska in a 10-3 loss Saturday night. Eldridge, according to both Stoops and offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson, has been OU’s highest-grading lineman since moving to guard from tight end before the Oct. 17 game against Texas.

His absence leaves the Sooners with a few options. They could move right guard Stephen Good to the left side, something they did in the second half at Nebraska, and slide right tackle Jarvis Jones down to right guard. They could try freshman Tyler Evans, a starter back in September who has been dealing with an ankle injury.

Or they could reinsert guard Tavaris Jeffries back into the mix. Jeffries started the Miami, Baylor and Texas games at right guard before being suspended for OU’s win at Kansas Oct. 24. He suited up against Kansas State the following Saturday but did not play, then missed the trip to Nebraska because of a family situation.

English injured his foot in the first quarter at Nebraska.
