QB injury a bruise; 50-50 for Bedlam
Rumors that Robinson separated his shoulder are false, multiple sources say.
If Oklahoma State quarterback Zac Robinson (right) can't play Saturday against OU, backup Brandon Weeden (left) would get his first career start. STEPHEN HOLMAN / Tulsa World

When an elite player sustains an injury, it's common for the rumor mill to churn.
The rumor: Oklahoma State senior quarterback Zac Robinson, when belted last week by Texas Tech cornerback Jamar Wall, sustained a separation of his right shoulder (his passing shoulder).
The reality: According to multiple sources close to the Cowboy program, Robinson did not sustain a shoulder separation. The injury is described as a deep bruise, and it resulted in Robinson being sidelined for Thursday's 31-28 victory over Colorado.
There should be more clarity following Monday's practice session, but sources view Robinson as having a 50-50 chance of playing in this week's Bedlam game at Oklahoma.
Saturday was an off day for Cowboy players, but Robinson was at Boone Pickens Stadium to receive treatment on the shoulder. His streak of 34 consecutive starts ended Thursday, when Alex Cate and Brandon Weeden quarterbacked the 12th-ranked Cowboys during their win over Colorado.
Weeden sparked OSU with 10-of-15 second-half passing for 168 yards and two touchdowns.
Cowboy coach Mike Gundy indicated that doctors had cleared Robinson to play against Colorado, but the shoulder was too sore and stiff for Robinson to have played effectively.
Gundy said he held Robinson out of the Colorado game because "I didn't think he could play full-speed. If it was the last game of his career, would he have tried to pull it off? I'm not sure. I don't think he was ready to play, and he probably shouldn't have been out there."
If Robinson cannot go against the Sooners, Weeden apparently would get the first start of his career. After rallying OSU from a 21-10 deficit against Colorado, Weeden — a 26-year-old sophomore from Edmond — was promoted from No. 3 to No. 2 on the depth chart.

I hope he 100%. I know how it feels to watch the Sooners play big game after big game with a back up QB. I hope you heel quick Zac.

The bedlam game this year will be a dogfight. Both teams have a lot at stake here and OU will play hard to win at home.Hopefully Zac will get to play, but the Sooners will be looking to put a big hit on him. Go Pokes!

Kind of nice that the TW has kept their comments function on after the big ou disaster. The OUklahoman turned theirs totally off - guess they didn't want to hear all the whining, wailing and gnashing of teeth (tooth) from the great unwashed.

Wild Bill,
Funny! Gooners can dish it out but they sure can't take it.
Anyway, it does have a Friday Night Lights feel to it huh? I hope Zac is OK enough to play but if he is not I would love to see what Weeden can do. That guy shows great promise as a QB. You can just tell by the way he handles himself under pressure.

We are all very proud of OSU and what Gundy has done for the school and the whole state. Maybe now some of the big neewspapers and TV stations will finally admit that Oklahoma has two great schools and one of them is in Stillwater.

Zac Robinson's health will not be a factor this week. OU has given up. Players, coaches, trainers, managers, everyone, with the possible exception of the fans. Hopefully OU will have the good sense to graciously decline a bowl invitation, should someone be desperate enough to extend one. If the Sooners should somehow wind up in a basement-level bowl game, it will only give our team one more opportunity to embarrass themselves outside Norman's city limits and extend our pathetic streak of humiliating losses in bowl games. Okie State will lay the wood to OU's backside this week, even if Alex Cate runs the Cowboys' offense.

The OU site was turned off because of all the poor and disgusting comments made by OSU fans. I think OU fans have been extremelly positive concerning Zac's injury. I for one hope he gets to 100% for the game. I may not like OSU fans, but I respect the team. Too bad most OSU fans have to be so negative, but with the Bedlam record what it is, I understand.

Soonerman37... trust me, if I could actually think of something good to say about OU Football or their fans I would say it... just that nothing comes to mind... oh, how about this? I love the song Jump Around..oops, I guess Tech had enough of bad sportsmanship at OU and thought they would turn the tables too. Soonerman37, its not just OSU that doesn't respect Sooner football.. Put your glasses on and look around the nation, big boy.

So playing 'Jump Around' was bad sportsmanship? We're not out to win the respect of the nation, big boy, just National Championships. I'd say we've done okay so far, comparatively speaking. Hey AZOkie, your membership to the fan club has just been revoked.
