NORMAN — For once, the injury news out of Oklahoma on Monday morning was encouraging. Defensive tackle Adrian Taylor, who hurt his lower leg during Saturday’s 41-13 loss at Texas Tech, should be in OU’s lineup Saturday against Oklahoma State.

Asked on the Big 12 teleconference what exactly Taylor injured, OU coach Bob Stoops replied: “I’d rather not say, because I believe he’s going to be able to play.”

That would be welcome news for a 6-5 Sooners team that lost center Ben Habern to a broken leg and middle linebacker Ryan Reynolds to a hamstring injury at Tech.

Stoops said Habern underwent surgery Saturday night and is expected to be out three months. He’ll be replaced by walk-on Brian Lepak against Oklahoma State.

Stoops sent word through an OU spokesman Sunday night that Reynolds would miss Saturday’s Bedlam matchup. On Monday morning’s teleconference, he termed Reynolds “doubtful.”

Austin Box replaced Reynolds after the defensive captain injured his hamstring in the third quarter at Tech.

Taylor was hurt during the Red Raiders’ second series of the fourth quarter. The entire Tech offensive line knelt in prayer as Taylor was attended to by OU trainers. He stayed down for two or three minutes, then walked slowly off the field.

Taylor had an ice pack taped to the region between his left shin and calf as the game ended.

Before Saturday's loss, the Sooners were already missing five starters — quarterback Sam Bradford, tight end Jermaine Gresham, defensive end Auston English and offensive linemen Brody Eldridge and Jarvis Jones.

Re: Sittler's column of 11/24/09, OSU ended up having a pretty easy schedule, all the tough games were played at home. Georgia and Missouri were less than expected. What would OSU's record have been without Zac Robinson all year? 3 and 7, 4 and 6? mdog
