OSU's Zac Robinson expected to practice today

From the OSU Blog: In spite of economy, a record year at Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State quarterback Zac Robinson is expected to practice Monday, coach Mike Gundy said.

It is unknown whether Robinson will play Saturday at Oklahoma. Sources have indicated there is a 50-50 chance for him to start the game.

Robinson missed the Cowboys' 31-28 victory over Colorado on Thursday after sustaining a deep bruise to his throwing shoulder against Texas Tech.

"We just didn't feel like he was ready to play," Gundy said in Monday's Big 12 teleconference. "It wasn't fair to put him on the field."

Alex Cate started in Robinson's absence but was 0-of-9 passing with an interception in the first half. He was replaced by Brandon Weeden, who sparked OSU with 10-of-15 second-half passing for 168 yards and two touchdowns.

In the week leading up to the Colorado game, Cate got about 60 percent of the snaps taken during practice, with Weeden taking the remaining 40 percent, Gundy said. After the win, Weeden was promoted to the No. 2 quarterback role.

"We were pleased with Brandon's play," Gundy said. "He has a very strong arm, and that gives him a chance to access the field, throw the ball around. At times that helps you as a quarterback so you can get some bigger plays that way."

The Sooners have five losses this season but are undefeated at home. Despite injuries to key players, "they're still very fast and very athletic on defense," Gundy said.

OSU also has had to cope with losing players to injuries and suspension, but Gundy said the coaches were pleased with how the team has bounced back.

"They've been very resilient," he said. "It's been very gratifying."
