Oklahoma State senior left tackle Russell Okung was named one of three finalists for the Outland Trophy, presented annually to college football's top interior lineman.

"It's a blessing just to be in the position that I am right now," Okung said. "I really don't feel like I'm that deserving, but it's a decision that people made and I'm thankful for the opportunity."

Okung and other finalists — Nebraska defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh and Idaho offensive lineman Mike Iupati — will be invited to attend the Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show, scheduled Dec. 10 in Orlando, Fla.

A senior, Okung is on the verge of helping OSU lead the Big 12 in rushing for a fourth consecutive season. He paved the way for three different Cowboy running backs to rush for at least 1,000 yards the last three seasons.

Okung has started 45 consecutive games. Through 11 games this season, he has 121 knockdown blocks. With 778 snaps played this year, he has not allowed a sack and has yielded only two quarterback pressures.

Asked about Okung, senior guard Noah Franklin said, "He never seems to have a day where you look over at him and he isn't working his tail off. He's just a guy that comes to work every day."

November to remember: OSU heads to Norman on the heels of three consecutive November victories since 2002. That was the last year the Cowboys won a Bedlam game.

A victory over OU would give OSU four November wins for the first time since 1945.

Long time, no hear: OSU coach Mike Gundy's weekly press conference was briefly interrupted when his cell phone rang. The caller was allegedly his younger brother, OU running backs coach Cale Gundy.

Mike answered the phone and said, "Cale, I'm at my press conference. What's up? Are you doing all right? Did (Caitlin) get over the flu? All right, I'll call you later."

Mike took advantage of a chance to gig his brother. While on the phone, Mike said he told the media that if the Sooners had a running backs coach, they would have an opportunity to have a good team.

After the call was over, the Cowboy coach said, "That's the first time he has called in six months."

Any other year he would get it. But this award belongs to Suh. The guy is just a beast.

Hahaha, now that's funny!
