OU Notebook: Reynolds update
Ryan Reynolds
By JOHN E. HOOVER, World Sports Writer

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said Tuesday linebacker Ryan Reynolds has "an outside chance" to play in Saturday's game against Oklahoma State, though it seems unlikely after a hamstring injury knocked him out of the second half at Texas Tech. Reynolds did not practice Monday or Tuesday.
Stoops also said Reynolds "probably" would play in a bowl game.
What, me worry?:
New placekicker Patrick O'Hara's facial features have been compared to those of Alfred E. Neuman. Unlike scholarship kickers Jimmy Stevens and Tress Way, who have admitted to being too excited at times when they attempt field goals, O'Hara also may take a bit of the Mad Magazine icon's laid-back attitude when he kicks.
"I was asked (Monday) about (Texas Tech) only being his second game to ever play in," Stoops said. "Maybe that's a good thing. He doesn't make too much of it. He goes through his routine and takes a swat at the ball and is hitting it well. Hopefully he can continue it."
Just watch:
Even though Sam Bradford and Jermaine Gresham already have announced they intend to enter the NFL draft after injuries cut short their junior seasons, and even though they are both seniors academically, they won't be honored during Senior Day activities before Saturday morning's kickoff. Neither will Gerald McCoy, who previously let slip that this would be his final year at OU.
"There's too much gray area with too many players," Stoops said. "Our policy always has been and always will be that they have to be seniors eligibility-wise. That's the only way that someone isn't shortchanged or to keep from making a mistake where a guy ends up coming back instead of going out."
Even though Bradford did so much for the program, including winning the Heisman Trophy?
"Yeah, but there's been a lot of special guys," Stoops said. "I think Sam knows that. Sam would say so was Roy Williams or so was so-and-so and so was this guy. Then you're starting to say this guy was special and this guy wasn't. You can't get into that. Too tough."
No spoiler:
If the Sooners beat the Cowboys on Saturday, OSU's hopes for a BCS bowl are dead.
OU players couldn't care less.
"We're not trying to spoil their season or anything like that," said quarterback Landry Jones. "We're just trying to go out there and win another game.
"We don't want to go out of this season on a bad note, a bad taste in our mouth. It stinks losing, and you're gonna think about it a long time, so you want your last game to be a win for you."
Said tackle Trent Williams, "We're not really worried about spoiling somebody's dreams. But we kind of want to give this season just a bright spot, I guess, with the win at home and keeping the (home winning) streak going."
They're ready:
Asked how his team prepares for end-of-game scenarios similar to the one that LSU botched on Saturday, Stoops steered away from comparisons to the Tigers or their coach, Les Miles. But, he said, they practice for such situations.
"We practice 'Mayday Field Goal' where we don't have a timeout, we got sacked, clock's ticking down, and we run on the field and kick it. When we practice, we're (yelling) '6 5 4 3' and the holder knows he has to call for the snap at 2 seconds to get it off, or 1. That's the best we can do."
