Tulsan John Wieczorek took one step closer to Dubai and possibly to next year's Breeders' Cup Sprint on Saturday when his horse, Custom For Carlos, co-owned with partner Ron Rashinski, won the $60,900 Bet on Sunshine Handicap at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.

For the first quarter of a mile of the 6-furlong race, jockey Jose Lezcano let Run Brother Ron set the early pace but took over with Custom For Carlos with a half-mile to go. When Lezcano asked the horse to pick up the front-runner, he went by him with ease and finished 3 3/4 lengths ahead of the field of nine horses in a time of 1 minute, 9.71 seconds. The interior fractions of the race were 21.65 for the first quarter mile, 45.13 for a half-mile and 57.12 for five-eighths of a mile.

Custom for Carlos, a 3-year-old colt by More than Ready, earned $37,040 for the victory and has pocketed $290,630 in 10 starts. He has won 4-of-10 for trainer Eddie Kenneally.
