Sooners' Bradford is getting 'comfortable' with choice, his father says
Bradford has until midnight Thursday to choose between returning to play at OU next season or jumping to the NFL.

OU BLOG:
Would coach Bob Stoops ever consider the NFL? Here’s one reason he might.
SITTLER BLOG:
OU assistant Josh Heupel is no longer a candidate at Minnesota.
The father of Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford thinks his son has made up his mind, but is taking all the time necessary to be sure of his decision.
Bradford has until midnight Thursday to choose between returning to play at OU next season or jumping to the NFL.
In a Tuesday telephone interview with the Tulsa World, Kent Bradford said he suspects Sam knows what he wants to do.
“Do I think he’s going back and forth? No. No, I don’t,” Kent Bradford said. “I just think he’s trying to become comfortable with his choice, I guess.”
He said Sam has met with OU head coach Bob Stoops, quarterbacks coach Josh Heupel, associate athletic director for media relations Kenny Mossman and others in recent days to help him determine a course of action.
“It’ll be his call and his time,” Kent Bradford said. “How he and Josh and Stoops and Mossman and all those guys handle it, I don’t know.”
Kent Bradford said he thinks he knows what his son is going to do, but admits he isn’t positive.
“I think I probably know his choice,” he said, “but I’m not totally sure of it.”
Kent Bradford said he’s receiving numerous phone calls each day about whether Sam will stay or go and tells everyone the same thing: he doesn’t know.
“He and I have talked, sure. And no, I’m probably not totally in the dark,” Kent Bradford said. “But you know, he has not actually made his final choice known to me yet. I truly think I know it, but hell, I may not.”
Kent Bradford clarified a report Monday that his son’s draft grade from the NFL advisory committee came back with an evaluation between the 10th and 20th picks of the first round.
“I think there is a huge amount of inaccurate information out there about how that eval works,” he said. “They don’t tell you a 10 to 20 or a top 5 or 20 to 25. They tell you round 1. End of story, period.
“From what they told me, (the grade report given to underclassmen) says 1 (first round), it says 2-3 (second or third round) as a grade, it says second day as a grade or it says not draftable. They actually told me that there are four options.
“If you’ll truly stop and think about it, nobody knows. You know? There are however many teams there are out there, (but) that eval grade comes from a consortium of only five teams.
“Now, probably where that grade of 10 to 20 comes from is that is probably the spot that whoever they talked to places that player in. Now, there’s probably a hundred other people you might actually talk to who might say top 5, top 3, 20 to 25. My whole point is that it’s all based on opinions and there will be as many opinions as there are people you actually talk to.
“Plus, the opinion you have right now may or may not match an opinion after the combine, after the pro days, the interviews and on the actual draft day in April.
“It’s truly not an exact science here.”

Did Sammy's dad just tell us his son is going pro?

oh, and btw, if Sam goes pro, let's just hope the Lions (0-16) don't get him in the first pick.

Thought about that Bullhead. Especially brining in Mossman. HOWEVER, if he stays, they will want to handle it, media wise, with flair as well.

I read it as he's going pro. Why would he need to "get comfortable" with staying at OU?

True theboys, but cant you also read that Sam's Dad was defending the rating system which was saying that Sam was not rated as high as many thought and therefore, he was trying to diffuse the possible reason that Sam might be staying?

He could be just as easily trying to get comfortable with the idea of not having making millions of dollars next year. Geez, who'd want to go to Detroit, anyway? My guess is that he'll stay. Maybe they can plan an announcement as theatrical as the one St. Tebow did when he decided to stay.

He needs to come out and say don't pick me and if you pick me trade. That's what Eli "is terrible" Manning said.

Honestly, who really cares if he stays? So he can get disappointed a couple more years of being beat down in big games i guess. Sooner Loosers... please give it up. The kid won the Heisman and is one of the top gb's in big twelve but that didnt seem to help your chances much now did it. OVERATED!!!!

What's the matter, Crybaby & Change, can't find an OSU football article to read? Oh, there's not one? Hasn't been in awhile? At least the basketball team is doing...oh, never mind. NOW I see why you're reading all of the OU articles. If Sam goes, great for him and his family. And a great chance for Landry Jones, OU's next Heisman winner.

Sam's gonna go to the NFL and he should. Since Tebow has elected to play his senior year at Florida Sam will surely be the first QB drafted, and all 5 of the teams with the first picks need a QB so he'll go high in the 1st round which means a juicy signing bonus as well as a stellar annual salary.
I'm astonished that so many Sooner fans are so selfish they would begrudge this fine young man, who has done so much for Sooner football, a chance to become really wealthy.
Those huge signing bonuses for highly visible rookies will be a thing of the past next year because (1) the veterans resent them, and (2) too many owners have been burned by giving a big bonus to a big name rookie only to have the player not pan out. (Remember Rashaun Woods from Oklahoma State?)
Be a little generous. Sam Bradford has done great things at OU. He's ready for the NFL, and he only has 2 semesters to graduate. He can easily make those credits up in the off season.

If the Detroit Lions are smart, which I don't they are, they'll grab him up with a $50 million signing bonus.

On a related note, this just in...
MIAMI (SP) – Shortly after leading the Florida Gators to a national championship with a 24-14 win over Oklahoma,
junior quarterback Tim Tebow announced that he would skip his senior season and ascend directly into Heaven.
Tebow entered the press room to a wild applause. A reporter for a 24-hour cable sports network burst into tears when the
2007 Heisman winner entered the room. Another threw a pair of boxer shorts on the podium. Tebow smiled at the gesture
and several sports reporters fainted.
“Sorry I’m late,” Tebow began. “There was a six-year-old boy with cancer in row 54 and I had to make my way through the crowd to heal him.”
“I want to start by saying that playing quarterback for the University of Florida, winning two national championships, has been a great honor.
There has been some speculation about my future and I want to clear that up right now,” he continued.
“Don’t go, Tim!” a reporter shouted from the back of the room.
“After much consideration, I have decided to skip my senior season at the University of Florida and ascend directly into Heaven,”
Tebow announced. Upon making the announcement, Tebow was bathed in a blinding white light and vanished.
In response to the news, ESPN announced that they will have a month-long tribute to Tebow. ESPN2 will now be known as ESPN-TEBOW
and will feature Tebow highlights (including home videos of Tebow’s childhood), re-airings of past interviews, Tebow-centric analysis by ESPN
air personalities, a Tebow quiz show, and a reality show to find the “most Tebow-like” person in America.
“He wasn’t just the greatest player in college football history,” said a college football writer at the press conference, tears streaming down his face.
“He might have been the greatest person to ever walk on earth.”

Sam's decision was made the second he heard that Tebow was staying. Sam doesn't want to face that again. Let him go lose for another team.
And I always wonder if they make that much less going pro. They always seem to have plenty of money at school.

Why do OU fans feel the need to mock Tim Tebow?
After all, according to OU fans and players, he would be the 4th best QB in the Big 12. Why be so mean to the 4th best QB in the Big 12?
I'm frustrated by OU, I used to love the SEC-Big 12 argument, but no one from the Big 12 wants to be a part of that argument anymore. They all brag about Utah and walk away.
