OU football players to change jersey numbers
Dominique Franks, stripping the ball from OSU quarterback Zac Robinson last season, will go from wearing No. 15 to No. 1 next season. Tulsa World file

Oklahoma has announced a handful of players will change jersey numbers for 2009, including two returning starters.
Dominique Franks, a junior cornerback from Tulsa, will wear No. 1 next season. He previously wore No. 15, partly in honor of his uncle, former Sooner defensive back Charles Franks.
Ryan Reynolds, a senior linebacker from Las Vegas, is switching from No. 8 to No. 4. Deep snapper James Winchester changes from 46 to 86. Seven others who didn’t play or were backups in 2008 also will wear new numbers.

Who cares? Definitely a non-story.

You wouldn't know No. 15 from a hole in the ground anyway. If you don't like sports stories, just keep your nose out of it.

Wow, somebody actually wasted time to write this "story"?
I'm pretty sure we can just look at the media guide when it comes out.
Wait...this just in! It appears that the 3rd string left tackle will switch from #86 to # 88 next year. More on this story as it develops!

Geeze, TW is really looking hard for story lines. No complaint though because I am just happy we still have a TW hard copy.

Some jersey changes are necessary if some players are going to be more involved in the offense. Rules dictate that certain linemen, running back, qbs and receivers have certain numbers. There was a high school team that had an offense where even the linemen wore a receiver's number to be pass eligible. Maybe that is the reason for some of the jersey changes. Who knows? Just my opinion.
