Oklahoma's recent trend of landing high-profile recruits at running back continued Friday with the verbal pledge of 4-star prospect Brennan Clay, Rivals.com reported.

The San Diego native of Scripps Ranch High School is the No. 2 all-purpose running back in the nation and No. 41 player overall, according to Rivals.

The 6-foot, 190-pound Clay had scholarship offers from a host of other schools, including Oregon, Georgia, Michigan, Brigham Young and Arizona State.

Last season as a junior, Clay rushed for almost 1,500 yards and 20 touchdowns, and added 70 receptions for more than 1,000 receiving yards.

He is OU's 11th commitment for the 2010 recruiting class.
