Sooners' schedule looking tough
World file

OU Football Schedule.
According to NCAA statistics, Oklahoma played the toughest schedule in college football last season. That factor helped push the Sooners ahead of Texas and into the Big 12 and national title games. In 2009, OU's schedule looks harder. Today the Tulsa World analyzes the Sooners' 2009 schedule.
Conference schedule:
One conference game, as usual, stands above the rest: an Oct. 17 date with Texas in the Cotton Bowl. But another, at scrappy Kansas, is cause for concern. Two more — at Nebraska and at Texas Tech — come with both question marks and caution signs (historically, both teams are tricky-good at home). The Sooners' home schedule of Baylor, Kansas State and Texas A&M is easy, but the Sooners close with consensus Top 10 Oklahoma State.
Nonconference schedule:
Computers (and a handful of humans) appreciated OU's challenging nonconference slate last year, helped most by surprising Cincinnati and TCU. This year, it's mid-major powers like Tulsa and BYU that could give the Sooners a significant lift. Both were 10-game winners last season. If OU can have a triumphant return to Miami — this time against the Hurricanes in what is expected to be a snake-pit atmosphere — another BCS date is possible.
Toughest test:
With an untested offensive line, it might be the opener against BYU in Arlington. Or it might be that unit's first road test against a fearsome Miami defense. Ultimately, the Sooners' most difficult game again figures to be Texas. UT rallied for a 45-35 win last year, and has many of those players back. Colt McCoy lost the Big 12 and the Heisman to Sam Bradford, so he'll likely be at his best.
Upset alert:
Don't look past BYU. The Cougars have a talented three-year starter at QB and a punishing running game. But the real threat comes at Kansas, where Todd Reesing — an even more talented three-year starter — and his high-powered receiving corps can't wait to get another shot at the Sooners. Reesing threw for 342 yards in Norman last year (269 to Dezmon Briscoe). It's a vastly different team, but remember OU's road dud at Colorado in 2007?

Just surfing... and wanted to chime in.
Okla... You've got onehellof a team and deserve to be at the top with the big three... Good luck and beat Florida !!!
Concerning the Cane's game. "Snake pit" is a good reference to the game. Suggest not to take us lightly... I'm not saying we're going to win, but you'll known you've been in a dog fight when you leave.
A hurricane is forming in the Bermuda Triangle... and is expected to be a Cat5 in 2010, but watch out for early mini-tornado's in 09...
BE ADVISED!

OU is 0-5 in its' last 5 BCS Games. Probably will be 0-6 after Jan. 7, 2010.

Don't know if I'd be bringing up pot right now with the Pratt and Moseley incident in the news today. I'll also remind you that OSU has never won a Big 8 or Big 12 Championship nor have they won a National Championship in football.
Put THAT in your pipe and smoke it!

Nice to see a Canes fan on here. It just seems quiet on the boards(ESPN/Fox Sports) not hearing from FSU and Canes fans since the fair-weather types jumped on the UF bandwagon. Last game I had a buddy from Miami over at the house, but sadly he left at halftime. I hope this years game is more competative.

Once again their schedule looks like a cake walk. Hence why they always make it to the championship game due to the fact they play weak teams throughout the season. Once they play a real perennial football team, we all know the outcome.
With that said, that Cougars team from BYU will give OU it's toughest game I believe. They are a very fundamentally sound team and pushed Utah to overtime I believe last season. Watch out for them.

BYU has the same problem as us....that is 4 new starters on their OL. Not a good thing to have against our defense this year.
Peterpuffer indicated that we'd be 0-6 in bowl games after January 7th....which indicates that he believes we'll be playing in Pasadena.

Stoop to "there" level - should be "their"....
"there" refers to "over there"....
There is also "they're" as in "they are"....

I think The Educator/Jenks needs some education in NCAA football and scheduling.
Cakewalk schedule? You must be looking at Texas' schedule. The article even states that last years schedule was the toughest....but before the season started it didn't look like that "on paper". Only after the season is played out and you find out your opponents records then do you realize you played strong/weak teams. All that shows is that it is unpredictable....on paper it could look strong and turn out to be weak.

If Graybeard really has a grey beard, then he should be able to recall 1976 Big 8 co-championship was shared among OSU, OU, and CU. Since the football Mythical National Championship is decided by votes, including the BCS with "required votes" for the winner of their game, I question the process but I recognize that OU has got to play in some big games. I wish yOU the best again with "Big Game Bob" in the coming season.

K Barrow-
Does Bob Stoops not have anything to do with scheduling his non-conference games? I am just curious to know why it's always teams like North Texas, TCU,Tenn Chattanooga etc. The only way Oklahoma is going to be ready for the BCS championship games is playing tougher opponents out of your league is all I am saying.
Go schedule an Iowa on the road or an Auburn, Michigan, Vandy teams that will make you better in the long run. You can't get better playing teams that everyone knows you're going to put 50+ points on.

The Cowboys have the nation's most statistically proficient trio in the country — QB Zac Robinson (562 yards rushing, 3,064 passing, 33 total TDs), WR Dez Bryant (87 catches, 1,480 yards, 19 TDs) and RB Kendall Hunter (1,555 yards, 16 TDs) — back, to go with an experienced o-line, led by All-American Russell Okung.

Get some Defense going and i think well be in fine shape! only reason we lost in bedlam last year was Defense are offenses matched up perfectly until our D let down with 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter its a shame that score doesn't do that game any justice i know those sooners were holding on to there seats till those last 7 minutes of that game GO POKES!!!!!
