Stay gold: Get used to those gold home uniforms for at least as long as the winning streak continues. Head coach Scott Sutton said he won't be changing back to the home whites until the streak ends.

"Hopefully, we'll get to wear (the gold uniforms) for every home game for the rest of the season, because until we lose, we'll be wearing them and I'll be wearing this (navy blue) suit," Sutton said with a chuckle.

Saturday's win was the fifth straight at home and seventh without a loss in 2009.

Double trouble: Marcus Lewis needed just over 11 minutes to score his first 11 points, registering his 10th consecutive double-figure scoring game. It is the longest such streak of his ORU career.

Lewis had 14 first-half points, hitting 6-of-7 from the field and 2-of-3 from the foul line. He also had five rebounds, one blocked shot and one assist — with no turnovers — in 15 minutes.

Free stuff: Southern Utah came into the game fifth nationally in free throw percentage (.789). The Thunderbirds used the line to good effect in the first half.

They made only 6-of-24 from the field and didn't hit their second field goal until just over 11 minutes remained in the half. But they stayed in the game by shooting 12-of-15 from the line.

300 Club: Sutton coached his 300th game at the ORU helm. Since taking over in the 1999-00 season, his record is 178-122. Sutton's 178 wins are No. 2 in school history behind Ken Trickey's 214.

Big house: Saturday's game drew a season-best crowd of 7,162 to the Mabee Center. The previous best crowd was 5,354 against Oakland on Jan. 10.

On the road again: ORU's next three games will be away from the Mabee Center, starting with a game at Centenary on Saturday.

The Gents downed Missouri-Kansas City 83-75 Saturday and have won five of six games since losing 82-59 to the Eagles in Tulsa on Jan. 2. Centenary's current four-game conference winning streak is its longest since the Gents joined the Summit League in 2003-04.

Dang. Too bad for me. Those gold uniforms are my least favorite. But, I guess I'll have to get over it cause I will be at the remaining home games. :)

It's a good thing that ORU has conference play to turn their season around and pad their record.
