Junior passes for 254 yards, three TDs in Cowboy victory

STILLWATER Statistically speaking, Zac Robinson has put together better games in his Oklahoma State career.

Robinson, though, never may have had a more effective performance while at OSU.

The junior starting quarterback was sharp in the Cowboys' 55-24 victory over Troy on Saturday night.

Whether it was throwing passes to Dez Bryant, handing the ball off to Kendall Hunter and Keith Toston, or keeping the ball for option run plays, Robinson executed the offense to another high output.

Robinson was 16-of-21 passing for 254 yards and 3 touchdowns.

On a night where OSU's rushing effort was 358 yards, Robinson accounted for 39 on 11 attempts.

"It felt like everything we were calling was working," Robinson said. "I felt good throwing and the backs were making plays. Offensive line blocked great and I never felt any pressure. That's why we were successful in the passing game."

With an efficient Robinson and strong showing again from Bryant, Hunter and Toston, the Cowboys offense has been in overdrive the last three weeks.

OSU has averaged 56 points in wins over Houston, Missouri State and Troy. The Cowboys have surpassed the 600-yard total offense mark twice in that span.

"Based on having some of the dumb penalties we've had, we can clean up some things," Robinson said. "But we feel we can move the ball on anybody."

With Big 12 Conference play starting next week, Robinson knows the competition is about to get upgraded. So does his coach, Mike Gundy.

The OSU head coach said Robinson needs to become a more potent threat running the ball. Robinson has only 92 yards rushing in four games this year after gaining 847 last season.

"He did a nice job of handling the offense. But he needs to run the football better," Gundy said of Robinson. "We knew this team had speed on defense, and we needed to wear them down. His running game gives us another dimension."
