Bryant honored again: Oklahoma State sophomore Dez Bryant was honored Monday as the Big 12 Conference special teams player of the week.

Bryant had a 78-yard punt return for a touchdown in last Saturday's 56-28 victory against Texas A&M. He also had five catches for 106 yards and three touchdowns in the game.

It was the second time this season Bryant has been honored as the conference's player of the week. He previously was the offensive player recipient following the Sept. 6 Houston victory where he caught nine passes for 236 yards and three touchdowns. Bryant also returned a punt for a touchdown in the Houston game.

No TV for Baylor: The Oct. 18 homecoming contest against Baylor will kick off at 2 p.m. and will not be televised. The Big 12 bypassed OSU's home game with the Bears for one of that day's four broadcasts with its television partners.

OSU is departing from its traditional 6 p.m. start for nontelevised games in part to accommodate fan and alumni activities surrounding homecoming weekend.

Among the events featured during "America's Greatest Homecoming Celebration" is "The Walkaround" at 6:30 p.m. Friday night, followed by "Homecoming and Hoops" at 9 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba Arena.

On Saturday, the annual homecoming parade will begin at 9 a.m. and last about 90 minutes. "The Walk," which features the Cowboy football team's trip down Hester Street to Boone Pickens Stadium, will begin at 11:45 a.m.

Pettigrew update: According to OSU coach Mike Gundy, senior tight end Brandon Pettigrew did not practice Monday night. Gundy continues to describe Pettigrew's status as "day-to-day." Pettigrew has missed the past two games with an apparent sprained ankle.

A program insider predicted that Pettigrew will play Saturday at Missouri.

Quarterback Zac Robinson said the offense has missed the All-Big 12 tight end.

"He's a big part of our running game. He does so much for me out there," Robinson said.

Bloody red: The Cowboys' defense has struggled at times in the red zone, which is the area from the 20-yard line to the goal line.

This season, opponents have scored 16 times (14 touchdowns and two field goals) in 17 trips inside the red zone. The lone possession inside the red zone not to result in a score came last week against Texas A&M. The Aggies had two plays from OSU's 17-yard line in the final 15 seconds. Both were incomplete passes into the end zone.

Quick hitters: Bryant and Florida's Brandon James are the only players nationally with two punt returns for touchdowns this season. The last time OSU opened the season 6-0 was 1997. The first loss that season came against Missouri, a 51-50 setback in double overtime. The road team has won the past three meetings in the OSU-Missouri series.
