No Pettigrew: Senior tight end Brandon Pettigrew once again suited up, but once again was held out of action with an apparent sprained right ankle. It is the third consecutive game Pettigrew has missed.

And it's possible Pettigrew could miss next week's homecoming contest against Baylor with the ankle injury.

According to an OSU source, Pettigrew suffered a setback with the ankle during practice leading up to the Missouri game.

Redshirt freshman Wilson Youman started in Pettigrew's place for the third straight game.

Almost a Mizzou man: Saturday night's game was not the first visit to Faurot Field for OSU senior strong safety Ricky Price.

Price had given a verbal commitment to Missouri in the summer of 2004 before his high school senior season. Price made his official visit to Missouri the same weekend OSU played football in Columbia. The Cowboys won that game 20-17, and a few months later they won Price's services.

"Oklahoma State offered me late and I came on a visit and liked it," Price said. "Coach Defo (assistant Joe DeForest) kept in contact with me, and finally in late January he said 'How would you like to be an Oklahoma State Cowboy?' My heart dropped and I immediately called my parents to tell them I changed my mind."

Price had a third-quarter interception.

New number for Daniel: Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel wore jersey No. 25 instead his usual No. 10 against OSU.

For every game this season, a Missouri senior is selected by his classmates on the team to wear the No. 25 in memory of Aaron O'Neal, who died after a voluntary summer workout in the summer of 2005. O'Neal would have been a fifth-year senior with the current Tigers senior class.

Down, but not out: OSU receiver Dez Bryant was popped twice by big hits in the first half and had to leave the field each time for a few plays. Bryant was hit hard by Tigers free safety William Moore on a deep post pattern in the first quarter that was underthrown a bit by Zac Robinson.

Late in the first half, Bryant was hit late by defensive back Hardy Ricks after an incomplete pass on the sidelines. Ricks drew a 15-yard penalty for the late hit.

First occurrences: Missouri's opening offensive possession only resulted in an 18-yard field goal by Jeff Wolfert. In Mizzou's first five games of the season, the Tigers scored a touchdown on their first drive.

The points allowed were the first by the Cowboys on their first defensive possession of the game this season.

Bowl visitors: In what should be a common occurrence the rest of the season, representatives from bowl games were in attendance.

A representative from the Fiesta and Insight bowls in Arizona watched Saturday's game.

OSU's home game last week against Texas A&M was watched by a representative from the Texas Bowl in Houston.

The captains: Safety/linebacker Andre Sexton, linebacker Donald Booker, offensive tackle Russell Okung, and punter Matt Fodge served as OSU's game captains Saturday. Fodge has been a captain in all six games this year.

Kickoff change: In an attempt to catch Missouri off-guard, Fodge handled the opening kickoff duties Saturday. Sophomore Dan Bailey had handled the kickoff responsibilities entirely for the first five games.

Bailey, though, handled extra points and field goals and did the kickoffs the remainder of the game.

Cross country: Kendall Hunter's 68-yard touchdown run on the second play of the second half was the longest run of his two-year OSU career. It also was the longest touchdown run by the Cowboys this season.

Those two hits on Dez were as dirty as I have ever seen put on a player. Then, on the Zac Robinson INT, Mizzou got penalized for a block in the back which was another very dirty hit on Dez. Way to stay classy, Mizzou.

Also, on the TD at the end of the 3rd quarter (2:04), Dez get's cheap shotted in the back 40 yards away from the play. Check the tape/Tivo.

Missouri isn't classy. 40 yards away from the play should be flagged. But college football at that top level is going to be rough. Defenses are nasty...that's what it takes, speed and a violent streak. Dez is going to have to get used to it, unfortunately. You better believe OU and Texas are going to try to knock him out of the game....especially since it did seem to have an affect on his numbers. But on the plus side, the cowboy Defense were laying the wood to Missou's O. Maclin got hit hard a few times and I saw Daniel take some shots...which made me very happy. Dez is going to have to endure it, but he seems like a tough kid who can adjust.
