OSU Notebook

Huge gathering:
Texas coach Mack Brown said there was an "electric atmosphere" inside Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium for the Longhorns' 56-31 win over Missouri last Saturday. With an attendance of 98,383, it was the Longhorns' 50th straight sellout, setting a record for football game attendance in Texas.
"It was by far the loudest I've ever heard our fans," Brown said. "The players were talking about it in the dressing room after the game, and they were even talking about it (Sunday) and how much fun it was. We'll need that same thing at 2:30 on Saturday this week."
On Saturday, Texas hosts Oklahoma State. Another crowd near 98,000 is expected for the game. The largest crowd to witness an OSU game was 104,253 at Michigan for the Wolverines' 35-3 triumph in 1992.
For OSU linebacker Andre Sexton, the crowd and noise are expected factors in road games.
"I love that," Sexton said. "I love going to an away stadium and playing in front of their crowd. That just drives my emotion up even more. That especially will be the case this week at Texas."
Bryant for Heisman?:
Although he is a long shot at best, OSU sophomore wide receiver Dez Bryant is receiving a little support for the Heisman Trophy. In its weekly Heisman poll released Monday, The Rocky Mountain News out of Denver had Bryant fourth.
Texas quarterback Colt McCoy was the unanimous leader among the newspaper's panel of 10 national writers who cover college football. Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford was second, and Florida
QB Tim Tebow was third. Bryant leads the Big 12 in receiving yards per game with 115.6 and is second in TD receptions with 11.
Midseason honors:
Bryant, sophomore running back Kendall Hunter and junior offensive tackle Russell Okung have been included on various midseason All-America teams.
Bryant was honored twice on
CollegeFootballNews.com's
midseason All-America team. The sophomore was selected as a first-team All-America receiver and honorable mention kick returner.
Hunter was named as an honorable mention All-America running back. On its Web site, Sports Illustrated listed both Bryant (as a punt returner) and Hunter on its second-team All-America listing.
PhilSteele.com's
second-team All-America list had Bryant as a receiver and punt returner. Hunter and Okung joined Bryant on that second-team list.
Middle class support:
OSU has scored 325 points this season. Nearly two-thirds of those points (215) have come from sophomores and the remaining 110 have come from juniors. No points have come from freshmen or seniors.
On a roll:
Counting last season's Insight Bowl win against Indiana, the Cowboys have won eight straight games, which is the second-longest active win streak in college football. Alabama, Tulsa and Texas also have eight straight. The longest win streak is nine by Penn State, Utah and Texas Tech.
