OSU Notebook

Unfamiliar foe:
Saturday's home matchup for No. 9 Oklahoma State and Iowa State marks the first time in three years the Cowboys have played the Cyclones.
That lack of familiarity is coupled with the fact OSU coaches had not seen the Cyclones much on crossover tape in preparing for other opponents earlier this season.
Any advanced knowledge can be helpful in starting game preparations.
"Unfortunately we don't see them as much as our South Division foes," co-offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer said. "You're not as familiar with the people calling the defenses. If you get used to a guy or see them quite a bit, you can get familiar with their calls. That's the disadvantage in not playing someone every year."
There are only eight players on this year's OSU team who played in the 37-10 loss at Iowa State three years ago. Tight end Brandon Pettigrew, center David Washington and strong safety Ricky Price started in that game. Price, however, was a starting wide receiver in 2005.
Cornerback Jacob Lacey, safety Quinton Moore, receiver Jeremy Broadway, punter Matt Fodge and deep snapper Zach Allen played as well.
Hurting Cyclones:
Iowa State's offensive line is banged up entering Saturday's game at OSU.
Starting center Mike Knapp is out for the remainder of the season after tearing the patellar tendon in last Saturday against Texas A&M. Starting right tackle Ben Lamaak suffered an undisclosed leg injury against the Aggies and his status for the OSU game is unknown.
"It's just a continuation of the drama of the year," Iowa State coach Gene Chizik said.
Knapp had surgery Monday. He will be replaced by redshirt freshman Alex Alvarez.
If Lamaak cannot play against OSU, his possible replacements are true freshman Scott Haughton or sophomore Matt Hulbert.
Draddy watch:
Senior linebacker Seb Clements will find out Wednesday if he is one of the 10 finalists for the Draddy Trophy. The Draddy Trophy is presented annually by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame to the college football player who stands out as the best in the country for his combined academic success, football success and leadership in the community.
"It's an honor and blessing just to be a semifinalist for that award," Clements said. "Just looking at some of the previous finalists and winners, it's an honor to be in the same sentence with those guys."
Oh brother:
OSU senior offensive guard Steve Denning's family has been dividing its attention the last four years.
Denning's twin brother Michael is the starting left guard at Memphis. The two brothers went their separate ways after playing one season together at Northwest Mississippi Community College in 2004.
"We did everything together growing up," Steve Denning said.
