Rocky Mountain high: Zac Robinson insists there is no issue with the mile-high altitude that will challenge Oklahoma State on Saturday night at Colorado.

That's easy for Robinson to say since he is from the Denver suburb of Littleton.

Robinson said he noticed the difference in altitude when came to college at OSU. He said he was able to coast through conditioning runs in Stillwater, which is 984 feet above sea level.

The OSU quarterback, though, does not believe his teammates will be affected all that much by the 5,363-foot altitude reading in Boulder.

"It can be a factor. You see some teams go up there and struggle with it," Robinson said. "We're in great condition as a team. Anytime we're in the fourth quarter, it's the other team that is huffing and puffing and we're pretty fresh. I'm not worried about altitude being a factor for our team."

OSU coach Mike Gundy also does not believe the altitude will affect his team.

"There is some scientific reason for that question," Gundy said. "I'm sure there are some backgrounds where it's harder to get air and adapt to it. But it's not going to change before we get there. So I suggest our players prepare like normal and get ready to play."

Rocky Mountain low: Colorado's kicking situation is certainly not at a high level. The Buffaloes are 4-of-14 on field goals this season.

How bad are Colorado's kicking woes? A few Colorado students who contacted coach Dan Hawkins and his staff were given kicking tryouts Monday and Tuesday.

Since booting a game-winning 25-yard field goal to beat West Virginia in overtime Sept. 18, Aric Goodman has missed seven consecutive field goal attempts.

Goodman was replaced by freshman Jameson Davis, who missed two field goals last week against Iowa State.

Hawkins is trying every approach to instill confidence in both kickers.

"We do a lot of live stuff with them; we do a lot of mental stuff with them," Hawkins said. "We continue to put them in pressure situations. At some point, the bubble will burst and they'll get back in a groove."

Pretty good decade: OSU enters the Colorado game with 57 wins since the start of the 2000 season. Only in the 1980s, when OSU went 71-43-2, did the program win more than 57 games in a decade.

The Cowboys already have won 16 more games this decade than they did in the 1990s.

The likely bowl appearance this season will be OSU's sixth this decade. OSU also made six bowl appearances in the 1980s.

Seeking balance: OSU is averaging 264.8 yards rushing and 232.8 yards passing this season. The Cowboys and Tulsa are the only programs nationally averaging at least 230 yards in both offensive categories.
