OSU: 3 Storylines

A look at three things to watch in today's OSU-Colorado contest.

Study the history

There is a reason why the Cowboys are favored by more than two touchdowns. Oklahoma State has a significantly better football team. OSU won 28-23 at Missouri. Colorado lost 58-0 at Missouri. However, the Cowboys should not presume that a victory over Colorado is automatic. OSU has lost in five of its past six trips to Boulder. The Buffaloes are playing in their final home game of the season. They are 5-5 and need one more win to become bowl eligible.

Run it all night

In losses to Florida State and Missouri, the Colorado defense gave up a combined average of 5.7 yards per rush attempt. Florida State is 19th nationally in rushing offense. Missouri is 49th. Oklahoma State is No. 6 in rushing offense at 264.8 yards per game. Colorado is 78th in rushing defense. The Cowboys can and should hammer away with their ground game. Could be a big night for Kendall Hunter.

Lack of pressure

In six Big 12 games, the OSU defense has mustered only nine sacks. Texas and Texas Tech attempted a combined total of 100 passes against OSU, and the Cowboys managed only one sack and two pass break-ups. Colorado QB Cody Hawkins got hot last week. During the second half against Iowa State, he passed for 226 yards and four TDs, rallying the Buffs to a 28-24 victory. If he isn't pressured on Saturday, Hawkins could hurt OSU.
