Offense: C

The Cowboys squandered several opportunities to turn this game into a blowout. OSU finished with 443 total yards, but on three occasions faltered near the end zone. On a 29-yard touchdown, wide receiver Dez Bryant made a one-handed catch before racing to the left corner of the end zone. Bryant scored the first road-game touchdown of his career. In rushing, running back Kendall Hunter reached the 100-yard mark on his 10th carry of the game—a 43-yard TD sprint that gave OSU a 20-3 advantage. Hunter finished with 102 yards (his ninth 100-yard performance of the season). On a third-and-goal play from the 1, Zac Robinson overthrew a wide-open Brandon Pettigrew. A fourth quarter Robinson pass was intercepted and resulted in a Colorado touchdown. Otherwise, Robinson was 15-of-23 for 217 yards.

Defense: A-minus

The Buffaloes were 4-of-4 on fourth down conversion attempts, but overall, the Cowboy defense had one of its better games of the season. Colorado finished with only 304 total yards and quarterback Cody Hawkins averaged only 9 yards per pass completion.

OSU’s linebackers were extremely active as Patrick Lavine was credited with 11 tackles, Orie Lemon with 10 and Andre Sexton with 10. On the final two plays of the first half, with Colorado near midfield, the Cowboys sacked Hawkins. Tackle Tonga Tea got the first sack. Sexton and Lavine combined for the second one.

Special teams: B

On kickoff coverage, Cowboy freshman Victor Johnson crushed Colorado return man Josh Smith. Earlier, Johnson popped a 39-yard kickoff return. OSU’s Dan Bailey was good on field goals of 18, 25 and 21 yards.

Colorado’s Josh Smith had a 40-yard kickoff return. OSU’s Matt Fodge averaged 40.5 yards on four punts.
