Balanced again: Unlike most programs that go to battle with spread offensive attacks, Oklahoma State stresses a run-pass balance.

In 2006, the Cowboys averaged 208.0 rushing yards and 201.8 passing yards.

In 2007, the Cowboys achieved perfect balance 243.2 rushing yards and 243.2 passing yards.

The 2008 Cowboys again are balanced. Through Saturday, when it won 30-17 at Colorado, OSU has averaged 261.3 rushing yards and 231.4 passing yards. Against the Buffaloes, the 11th-ranked Cowboys had problems in the red zone but were typically balanced with 226 rushing yards and 217 rushing yards.

Hunter update: At Colorado, Cowboy sophomore running back Kendall Hunter ran for 102 yards on 11 carries. If there was a biggest play of the game, it was his 43-yard, third-period touchdown that gave OSU a 20-3 advantage.

Hunter did not play during the fourth quarter because of a leg injury. On Saturday night, OSU coach Mike Gundy indicated that Hunter had a bruised thigh. During his Sunday teleconference with reporters, Gundy revisited the Hunter situation: "I don't know how serious his injury is. I first thought it was a quad contusion, but I later found out it wasn't that. We will just have to wait and see how he comes out."

Hunter's injury is not believed to be significant, and he has time to heal. The Cowboys are off this week and close the regular season on Nov. 29, when fifth-ranked Oklahoma visits Boone Pickens Stadium.

National stat rankings: Through 11 games, OSU is No. 6 nationally in rushing offense, No. 7 in total offense (492.6 yards per game) and No. 7 in scoring (41.6-point average).

With his 130.4-yard average, Hunter is fourth in rushing. His season total stands at 1,434 yards.

Cowboy quarterback Zac Robinson, with 21 touchdown passes on only 160 completions, is No. 3 nationally in pass efficiency. Wide receiver Dez Bryant is No. 2 nationally in receiving yards per game (111.1) and No. 4 on punt returns (17.9-yard average).

OSU is 77th in total defense and 108th in pass defense, but the defense has forced a combined total of 20 turnovers in the last eight games.
