Go figure: Even though OSU was outrebounded 57-43, three Cowboy guards matched career-high rebounding totals. Terrel Harris and Obi Muonelo grabbed nine rebounds each. James Anderson collected eight.

"Their (big players) were a lot more athletic than us," said coach Travis Ford. "We told our players that's no excuse to get outrebounded like that, but they were a whole lot more athletic than us."

Ford said his team will have to "figure some things out" because players are not going to become more athletic overnight or grow overnight. He regretted that the Cowboys played good defense at times (holding North Texas to 33.3 percent shooting) but failed to reward themselves by rebounding.

Foul play: Byron Eaton and Ibrahima Thomas were limited to 19 and 12 minutes, respectively, because of foul trouble. Eaton still managed five steals, giving him 199 in his career and moving him past Texas Tech's Jarrius Jackson, Missouri's Jeff Hafer and Missouri's Brian Grawer on the Big 12's all-time steals chart.

Big splash: Freshman guard Keiton Page came off the bench to score 15 first-half points. He finished with 20 points and five 3-pointers.

"Pretty good game for the second college game of your career," Ford said. "Not bad."

But Ford warned that Page could be typical of any freshman in that he will have up and down nights.

Marked man: UNT guard Josh White, brother of former Oklahoma guard Quannas White, scored 25 points at OSU's expense last season in only his second collegiate game. He salvaged 23 points in the rematch.

Not pretty: OSU and North Texas combined for 58 fouls and 83 free throws. "It wasn't a good-looking win," Anderson said. "But we got it."
