Opportunity knocks: Perrish Cox can't wait for the opportunities awaiting him in Saturday's Bedlam game.

Cox leads the Big 12 Conference in kickoff return yards with a 29.2-yard average.

The sophomore has returned one kickoff for a touchdown this season and has three for his career.

Oklahoma has surrendered three kickoff return touchdowns this season.

Cox has felt for a while that he is ready to take another kickoff back for a score.

"I've been waiting on that. I'm feeling good and thinking that my time will come when I do it again," Cox said. "Any time I return a kick, my goal is to put the offense in good field position. I want to give them a chance to score every time I return a kick. If I score on it, that's great too."

Big factor: Brandon Pettigrew should be close to 100 percent for the Bedlam game.

The OSU senior tight end has played five straight games despite battling a high ankle sprain that forced him to sit out three straight games.

"He's a warrior and indicative of many guys on this team that give everything they have," tight ends coach Doug Meacham said. "He makes a coach look good."

Pettigrew has had an impact on the OSU offense since returning to action Oct. 18.

In the past five games, he has 25 catches for 274 yards.

Coach Mike Gundy said the injury should not diminish Pettigrew's value to the Cowboys.

"He's been a great competitor for us," Gundy said. "He should be an All-American. You'll see who the All-Americans are at that position on (NFL) draft day. You can pick whoever you want. Those guys that pick on draft day are only concerned with who's going to make plays for them at the next level. That guy (Pettigrew) is going to make plays at the next level for a long time."

Bedlam rewind: Fox Sports Oklahoma (Cox cable 27) will show replays of three Bedlam battles this decade on Thanksgiving.

The 2001 and 2002 OSU victories will be replayed at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively. OU's 2006 victory will be shown at 7 p.m.

The FS Oklahoma cable network also will have a 30-minute preview special at 10:30 p.m. Friday.

Kind of strange that the only two OSU victories THIS DECADE will be two of the three games shown.

Soonerguy, seeing how as you have the last 30 years of OU football games recorded on laser disc and filed in chronological order, I don't see why it should matter to you. Go put on your jacket that Barry Switzer once touched and cry yourself to sleep.
