Academic honors: Nine players were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team. Senior linebacker Seb Clements earned first-team Academic All-Big 12 accolades for the third time in his career, along with junior guard Andrew Lewis and redshirt freshman linebacker Jared Glover, who were among only six league players nominated with 4.00 grade point averages.

Also on the first team were freshman defensive lineman Jamie Blatnick and senior long snapper Zach Allen, his third honor. Allen has twice been named to the first team.

Earning second-team honors were junior wide receiver Jeremy Broadway, sophomore wide receiver Dez Bryant, sophomore defensive lineman Shane Jarka and freshman offensive lineman Nick Martinez. Each earned their first honor.

Leaving a legacy: OSU's senior class is one of the smallest (15) compared to other NCAA Division I-A programs. But its accomplishments are hefty, coach Mike Gundy says.

"The success they've had and some of the key victories they've contributed to have continued the development of this football program," he said. "These guys are going to class, they're graduating or staying on track (to graduate). they have just made that decision, and hopefully that will get passed down to the younger players in the future."

The seniors have gone from a 4-7 season in 2005 to the third group to qualify for three straight bowl games.

If the Cowboys (9-2, 5-2 Big 12) win Saturday's Bedlam game, they will match the school record for wins in a season.

This year's senior class includes deep snapper Zach Allen, safety T.J. Bell, tight end Brian Bowling, defensive tackle Jeray Chatham, linebacker Seb Clements, defensive back Zach Crissup, offensive guard Steve Denning, punter Matt Fodge, cornerback Jacob Lacey, safety Quinton Moore, wide receiver Todd Nelson, tight end Brandon Pettigrew, safety Ricky Price, defensive tackle Tonga Tea and center David Washington.

Keeping the pace: OSU's top three running backs — Hunter, Keith Toston and Beau Johnson — all average at least 6 yards per carry.

Toston is the leader at 6.9 yards per carry (on 91 attempts). Hunter is averaging 6.7 yards per carry this year on 210 attempts. Johnson is gaining 6.2 yards per attempt on 58 carries.

Big-play potential: OU and OSU's offenses rank highly in quick-strike scoring.

The Sooners are tied for second nationally in most touchdown drives of five plays or less with 30. OSU is fourth with 29. OU is tied for second in most touchdown drives under two minutes with 34. OSU is sixth with 26.

The Sooners have seven offensive touchdowns of 50 yards or more, which is tied for third. The Cowboys are tied for fifth with six.
