Oklahoma State has two turnovers to none by OU.

STILLWATER — In a game where offenses were operating at high efficiency, just a mistake or two could prove costly.

In Saturday night's Bedlam game, Oklahoma State turned the ball over twice. Oklahoma played mistake-free football.

Ball game. OU 61, OSU 41.

"We played and lost to the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 ranked teams (at the time)," said co-offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer. "Your margin for error is so slim to begin with, and when you make mistakes you have to pay for it. We did tonight."

OU converted both Cowboys turnovers — a Zac Robinson first-quarter interception and Robinson's fumble late in the fourth quarter — into touchdowns.

The Cowboys also had a miscue that did not count in the official statistics, but provided a key swing in momentum.

Robinson threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Dez Bryant on the opening possession of the second half to cut OU's lead to 21-19. The Cowboys attempted a 2-point conversion to tie the score. OU defensive end Jeremy Beal pressured the OSU quarterback, who dropped the ball to the turf. Sooners defensive end Frank Alexander picked up the loose ball and ran all the way down the field for a 2-point defensive conversion to increase the OU lead to 23-19.

The Cowboys were forced to fight up hill the rest of the night.

Robinson did his best to keep the Cowboys in the game. The junior threw for 254 yards and three touchdowns and added 90 yards rushing, including a 31-yard touchdown run.

But the mistakes made a small margin for error even smaller.

"We kept fighting," Robinson said. "We had our chances, but we couldn't get it done."

Said OSU coach Mike Gundy: "Ultimately, what it came down to was that we made two or three crucial mistakes, and it cost us 10, 12 or 14 points."

How about giving some credit to OU's defense

For a long time OSU fan and alum this game was tough to watch. It reminded me of so many Bedlam games where OSU had their chances but were out-coached, played and "swaggered" (1983, 1988, on and on and on). OU is in OSU's head. Both the players and coaches. Dumb calls (go for two on the opening drive/score of the second half?) by the coaching staff and failure of players to take advantage of OU mistakes while OU capitalized on every OSU mistake. When you are confident the ball tends to bouce your way and vice versa. Man did the ball bounce OU's way last night! OU's confidence, OSU's lack of same, and bone headed decisions by OSU coaches were too much for OSU to overcome. Not to mention that OU is simply a better team. Until OSU get's OU out of their heads they will have a tough time winning Bedlam.
