Vote for who you think is the area’s best quarterback.

World Sports Writer Barry Lewis breaks down the top 10 quarterbacks in Tulsa and the surrounding area.

1. Johnny Deaton

Senior Sand Springs

Was the Tulsa World's metro player of the year in 2008 as selected in on-line voting. Passed for 1,718 yards and 11 TDs while rushing for 1,665 yards and 18 TDs to lead the Sandites to their first playoff berth and winning season since 1997. Committed to Oklahoma State.

2. Eric Bennett

Senior Booker T. Washington

Bounced back from a Week Two injury to lead the Hornets to the Class 5A state title. Rushed for all four of his team's TDs in the state final. A U.S. Army All-American Bowl nominee. Will probably also see time at wideout and defensive back. Recruited by Arkansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tennessee.

3. Demarco Cobbs

Senior Central

The state's top college recruit is projected as a wide receiver in college. Led the Braves to their first winning season since 1996. Rushed for 1,096 yards and 17 TDs last year. Also passed for 1,030 yards. Returned three kicks for TDs. Recruited by Alabama, Florida, Louisiana State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Southern Cal.

4. Chase Boyce

Senior Union

Passed for 2,300 yards and 22 TDs last season to lead the Redskins to the 6A state title. Favorite pro QB is Brett Favre. Recruited by Cincinnati, Purdue, Utah

5. Sawyer Kollmorgen

Junior Jenks

Started the final eight games of last season and helped lead the Trojans to the 6A state title game. Draws comparisons to former Jenks QB Mark Ginther, the 2007 Tulsa World state player of the year. Started last eight games of 2008 after opening season No. 3 on the depth chart. As a starter, he was 71-of-138 passing for 1,437 yards and 11 TDs with only six interceptions as Jenks reached the state final.

6. Archie Bradley

Junior Broken Arrow

Completed 123-of-204 passes for 1,340 yards and 10 TDs last season at Muskogee. Also rushed for 420 yards. Threw a last-second winning TD to beat Broken Arrow. Averaged 41 yards as a punter. An outstanding baseball player.

7. Matt Oberste

Senior Sallisaw

Completed 109-of-195 passes for 1,764 yards and 18 TDs with only seven interceptions in '08. Rushed for 466 yards and seven TDs. Led a fourth-quarter comeback that erased a 16-point deficit in the playoffs against Oklahoma City's Bishop McGuinness, which eventually won. Recruited by Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Texas Tech.

8. Kirby Schoenthaler

Junior Bartlesville

Completed 69 percent of his passes as he led 6A with 2,391 passing yards and threw for 16 TDs in 2008. Also has good speed and running ability.

9. Beau Marsaln

Senior Metro Christian

Will play for his fourth team in four years after making four starts at Jenks last season. Completed 36-of-63 passes for 569 yards and seven TDs in 2008. In his first two seasons at Locust Grove and Blackwell, he passed for a combined 4,065 passing yards and 45 TDs, and rushed for 11 TDs.

10. Prince McJunkins

Junior Wagoner

A dual threat as he rushed for 517 yards and nine TDs last season and completed 55-of-112 passes for 981 yards and seven TDs. Son of former Wichita State quarterback Prince McJunkins.
