Bartlesville 45, Sand Springs 14

SAND SPRINGS — After giving up two early touchdowns to Sand Springs in the first half, Bartlesville broke the game open in the second half thanks to defense.

The Bruins forced a key turnover in the third quarter and shut down Sandites star Terrance Dixon to earn a 45-14 win over Sand Springs at Memorial Stadium.

Bartlesville wide receiver Mike Thompson caught two touchdowns, and Bruins running back Jack Wiseman rushed for two more.

Sand Springs had only four five downs in the second half, in addition to a lost fumble and a missed field goal. After an 8-for-8 first half passing, Sandites quarterback Darrack Harger was only 7-of-16 in the second half.

Jenks 62, Sapulpa 27

SAPULPA — The Jenks Trojans didn't have any trouble staying focused on football only a few hours after the announcement of Allan Trimble's suspension from his head coaching duties for the rest of the semester.

With offensive coordinator Loren Montgomery installed as acting head coach, Zack Langer rushed for three touchdowns and Cory Jones scored the first two to help propel the top-ranked Trojans to a 62-27 victory over winless Sapulpa in a District 6A-3 game on Friday night at Collins Stadium.

Jones opened the scoring with a 39-yard run. Jenks (5-0, 2-0) scored on its first five possessions. Sapulpa's TD came on Bryce Ferrell's 5-yard run in the second quarter after Jenks jumped to a 35-0 lead. The Trojans scored the first half's final TD on Brandon Williams' 1-yard run for a 42-7 lead with 53 seconds left. Williams was the Trojans' leading rusher with 113 yards.

Trojans quarterback Sawyer Kollmorgen completed 11-of-14 passes for 192 yards. His last pass was a 56-yard TD strike to Brandon Kitchens on the first scrimmage play of the second half.

Jenks backup quarterback Hunter Collins passed and ran for a TD.

Union 42, Owasso 7

Ground-game statistics reflect the mismatch that was Friday’s Owasso-Union football game.

The Redskins rushed for 250 yards.

The Rams rushed for minus-19 yards.

A meeting of Top 10 high school teams typically results in a competitive contest, but that was not the case at Union-Tuttle Stadium. The defending state champion Redskins, ranked No. 2 in Class 6A, celebrated homecoming with a 42-7 victory over 10th-ranked Owasso.

Union improved to 4-1 overall, 2-0 in District 6A-4. The Redskin offense was brutally efficient, rolling for 453 total yards.

Over its last three games, Union’s ground game has produced a combined total of 787 yards.

Details: Fight went down between both teams on the 50. From what I heard bunch of various fights broke out afterwards. Apparently the BK players started it all? Dancing in the middle of the Spartan head and taunting Bixby players. Im sure everyone else has their own story. Im just telling you from what I saw/heard from Bixby and BK people. Very intense rivalry. Basketball games, wrestling duals, baseball games, All sports are going to be even more interesting.

I will give it to Bixby. It was pretty rude for them to be dancing in the middle of the Spartan logo. But, it probably could have been handled better. Coaches should have stepped in there.

It was probably so spontaneous that it was out of hand before the coach's and officials realized what was going on.

Agreed. But overall. It was an AWESOME game. BK won with a minute left. BK survived their first scare at being the #1 5A team.

I love HS sports. I try to get my son out to the games as much as possible. It's the best. They need to teach the players they represent the community and their school as well. And behave accordingly.

But glad you enjoyed the game. I missed out on the games this week.

I see BTW blasted Miami 90-0. Now what was that all about?

Must have pretty tee'd losing to Bishop Kelly last week.

Its true. I was thinking that it's to bad they can't call a game at half. It was 69-0 I believe at halftime.

Really any game that gets to that point is definitely out of hand. For the sake of the players alone, and preventing unnecessary injury, they should call it.

Booker T. 90-0. The other team is going back home crying and nursing their wounds. Call it off at like 70-0. Wow!!!

It was pretty ugly but it looked like everybody got to play. They ran a constant clock 2nd half so it was only about 24 minutes from start to finish. Thats a lot more dignified for the losing team than calling it. Plus you at least get a chance to put some points on the board. Everybody has a game like that once or twice in their lives - you get over it really quick
