This week's top 10 games

(All games Friday unless noted)

1. Class 6A — No. 1 Jenks (5-0) at No. 3 Broken Arrow (4-1)

Both teams have outstanding defenses, but this could be an offensive shootout.

Jenks quarterback Sawyer Kollmorgen has completed 66 percent of his passes for 886 yards and six touchdowns. His top receiver has been Brandon Kitchens, who has 19 receptions for 257 yards and two TDs. The Trojans have a strong ground game with Zack Langer (714 rushing yards, 12 TDs) and Cory Jones (209 rushing yards, 3 TDs).

Broken Arrow quarterback Archie Bradley (29-of-51, 638 yards, 10 TDs) is coming off his best game of the season with three TD passes last week against Muskogee. Standout tailback Steven Hopper should be at full strength for the first time since being injured in Week 2. Broken Arrow's top receivers are Alex Cochran and Ronnie Price, who scored the Tigers' only TD in Jenks' 21-7 win last year. Price should be back at wideout after he filled in at cornerback last week.

2. Class 5A — No. 2 Booker T. Washington (3-2) at Pryor (5-0)

The host Tigers have a strong ground attack and likely will try to follow a similar game plan as Bishop Kelley did in its win over the Hornets two weeks ago. Pryor, with quarterback Evan McCollough, who had two rushing TDs in last week's comeback win at Skiatook, needs to control the clock and shrink the game while avoiding turnovers.

Booker T. Washington beat Pryor 59-0 last year even though quarterback Eric Bennett was sidelined with an injury. Bennett has rushed and passed for nine TDs each this season.

3. Class 3A —No. 3 Claremore Sequoyah (5-0) at Berryhill (3-2)

Look for a more competitive game than Sequoyah's 42-7 win over the Chiefs last year. Sequoyah quarterback Cody Richardson has a rushing TD in all five of the Eagles' games this season.

Berryhill's losses have come against top-ranked teams, Glenpool (4A) and Cascia Hall (3A). The Chiefs' 24-6 loss to Cascia Hall last week was a closer game than the score indicated. Berryhill blanked Sequoyah 21-0 in 2007.

4. Class 5A —No. 10 Bixby (2-3) at Hale (3-2) (East Tulsa Sports Complex)

Hale tailback Justin Fogle, who has rushed for 820 yards and 12 TDs this season, faces his toughest test of the season. Bixby held Kelley's standout tailback, Stephen Sherwood, to 63 rushing yards last week.

The Rangers' defense, which has posted two shutouts, faces its biggest challenge as Bixby has scored 101 points over the past three weeks. Bixby beat Hale 56-0 last year.

5. Class 5A Ada (5-0) at No. 6 Central (4-1) (S.E. Williams Stadium)

Both quarterbacks, Central's Demarco Cobbs and Ada's Qumain Black, are dangerous runners who lead explosive offenses. Central is averaging 43.8 points, and Ada is at 32.4.

Central won a shootout last year, 40-28, rallying from a 20-0 deficit at Ada as Cobbs rushed for three TDs and passed for two others.

6. Class 4A — No. 6 Grove (4-1) at Collinsville (3-2)

This has the potential to be a defensive struggle. Grove's defense, led by linebacker Bobby Harris, has allowed only 10 points per game. Collinsville, led by linebacker Steven Majike, is giving up only 9.6 points. Both of Collinsville's losses were by scores of 7-6.

Grove won 31-14 last year and has not lost to Collinsville since 2000.

7. Class 6A — No. 2 Union (4-1) at Yukon (3-2)

The Redskins beat Yukon 48-0 last year, but will face a tougher test this year in a battle of District 6A-4 leaders.

Yukon sophomore quarterback Corbin Jones has passed for 1,219 yards and 15 touchdowns, but he hasn't a faced a defense the caliber of Union's. Yukon averages 37.2 points, while Union allows only 9.4. Union senior QB Chase Boyce has passed for 769 yards and eight TDs to lead an offense that averages 34 points. Yukon's defense is allowing 20.2 points. Boyce passed for three TDs and rushed for another against Yukon last year.

8. Class 6A — Claremore (3-2) at No.5 Bartlesville (5-0)

Bartlesville quarterback Kirby Schoenthaler has passed for 1,034 yards and 12 TDs this season. The scary thing for opposing defenses, however, is that Schoenthaler also has become a big factor as a runner the past two weeks with 272 yards.

He rushed and passed for a TD in a 27-6 win over Claremore last year. That was the first meeting between the teams since 1981. Claremore is coming off a 25-24 overtime win over Memorial.

9. Class 2A — No. 1 Lincoln Christian (5-0) at Sperry (3-2)

In order to pull off an upset, Sperry has to a better job of stopping Lincoln Christian standouts Roman Wilson and Matt Lawwill, who had big games in Lincoln's 30-12 win last year. Wilson had 11 catches for 144 yards and two TDs, while Lawwill rushed for two TDs.

Wilson is coming off his biggest receiving game of this year with three TDs in last week's 49-7 win over Chelsea. Sperry lost 24-0 at Verdigris last Friday.

10. Class 2A — No. 7 Vian (4-1) at Adair (5-0)

Adair, which has bounced back from a 3-7 season, has allowed only 24 points in five games and has a strong offense led by dual-threat quarterback Christian Luper, who has passed for nine TDs and rushed for six. Vian defeated Adair 48-12 last year.

Other good bets: Bristow at Okmulgee, Broken Bow at Webster, Catoosa at McLain, Jay at Oologah, Maud at Claremore Christian, Oaks at Kiefer, Pawnee at Woodland, Roland at Metro Christian (Thursday), Sallisaw at Fort Gibson, Sand Springs at Muskogee, Welch at Porter.

Other area games: Barnsdall at Haskell, Beggs at Chandler, Caney Valley at Pawhuska, Cascia Hall at Inola, Chouteau at Tahlequah Sequoyah, Cleveland at Seminole, Dallas Greenhill at Holland Hall, Depew at Bowlegs, Dewar at Stroud, Dewey at Blackwell, Eagle Point at Riverfield, East Central at Edison (Thursday, LaFortune Stadium), Henryetta at Okemah, Hominy at Liberty, Kellyville at Checotah, Ketchum at Foyil, Keys at Colcord, Locust Grove at Vinita, Mannford at Glenpool, Morris at Prague, Mounds at Dibble, Muldrow at Hilldale, Nowata at Wyandotte, OKC Grant at Owasso, OKC Patriots at NOAH, Perkins at Victory Christian, Prue at Agra, Rejoice Christian at Sunrise Christian, Rogers at Bishop Kelley, Sapulpa at Memorial, Skiatook at Miami, Summit Christian at Windsor Hills, SW Christian at Evangelistic Temple, Tahlequah at Coweta, Verdigris at Chelsea, Westville at Kansas.

Maybe Jimmerson can break 100 this week against another bunch of hayseeds and get those extra reps in they so badly need. How getting in extra reps against a defense that's not even as good as your freshman team helps you is a mystery to me.

Booker T. should be 6A but they are a Jenks in 5A.

I bet they won't run it up if they get the chance with all the heck they caught for that decable with Miami. Well I hope they don't.
