TECUMSEH — Class 4A No. 1 Glenpool produced another dominating session as it mauled Tecumseh 49-6 Friday night at Savage Stadium.

The Warriors (9-0 overall, 6-0 in District 4A-2) quickly raced to a 28-0 first quarter-lead while controlling the Savages with a suffocating defense.

Marco Nelson, the senior standout running back and Tulsa commit, finished with 101 yards on six carries and three TDs, on runs of 45, 15 and 3 yards. Glenpool rushed for 326 yards on 41 carries while it kept Tecumseh to 36 yards on 28 carries. Glenpool forced six turnovers, three interceptions and three fumbles.

The Warriors sacked Tecumseh quarterback Kyle Nelson frequently and stopped him and other Savage backs in the backfield..

"We really got after them." Glenpool coach Steve Edwards said. "I'm proud of the kids with the effort they gave. We put ourselves in a position to be district champions."

The Warriors scored on their first offensive play, with Nelson galloping 45 yards just 2:06 into the game. The next score came nine seconds later. An interception by junior lineman Ryan Loghry set up a 15-yard scamper from Nelson.

It was 42-6 at halftime after Oklahoma State commit Isaac Maselera scored on a 55-yard run late in the second quarter.

Tecumseh, which already has a playoff berth, falls to 7-2 and 4-2 for the season.

Glenpool hosts Oklahoma City Star Spencer (7-2 overall, 6-0 4A-2) next Friday night. The winner will earn the 4A-2 title.
