1. Class 6A — No. 4 Bartlesville (8-1) at No. 3 Broken Arrow (7-2)
The winner finishes second in District 6A-3 and will host a first-round playoff game while the loser finishes third and opens the playoffs at Owasso. Broken Arrow's defense, coming off a shutout over Claremore, will be tested by Bartlesville quarterback Kirby Schoenthaler, who has passed for 1,990 yards and 23 touchdowns. The Tigers held Schoenthaler to 216 passing yards and one TD in last year's 63-13 victory.
Broken Arrow quarterback Archie Bradley has passed for 967 yards and 16 TDs. One of his top receivers is Ronnie Price, who had a big game against Bartlesville last year with a TD catch and he also scored on a blocked punt.
2. Class 4A — No. 5 OKC Star Spencer (7-2) at No. 1 Glenpool (9-0)
This will decide the 4A-2 district title for the second consecutive season. For Star Spencer to have a chance at upsetting the defending 4A state champs, it will need to a better job of containing Glenpool tailback Marco Nelson, who rushed for 224 yards and four TDs in a 35-6 win last year.
Nelson has rushed for 1,078 yards and scored 21 TDs. Glenpool has the No. 1 ranked offense and defense in 4A, scoring 50 points per game and allowing only 8.4 points.
3. Class 6A — No. 1 Jenks (9-0) at Sand Springs (5-4)
Sand Springs needs an upset to qualify for the playoffs. Sandites quarterback Johnny Deaton has experienced some success against the Trojans with 481 yards passing
in his last two games against them. Last year, Deaton produced 371 total yards and three TDs in a 56-28 loss. Jenks quarterback Sawyer Kollmorgen passed for 193 yards and three TDs against the Sandites.
This will be a matchup of 6A's top two rushers. Sand Springs' Terrance Dixon has 1,440 yards and 23 TDs while Jenks' Zack Langer has 1,378 yards and 26 TDs. Langer had his best game of 2008 with 136 yards and two TDs against Sand Springs.
4. Class 5A — No. 8 Bixby (6-3) at No. 2 Booker T. Washington (5-4) (Thursday)
While Bixby prepares for the playoffs, the host Hornets will play their final game after two forfeits cost them a postseason berth. Eric Bennett, who is No. 1 in the Tulsa World's rankings of top area players, plans to return from a shoulder injury for the finale. Bennett has produced 20 TDs in six games this year.
Bennett was the key with 253 rushing yards and two TDs in a 28-14 victory over Bixby last year. DeWitt Jennings III supplied Bixby's offense in that game with two TD runs. Jennings has rushed for 796 yards and nine TDs this season. Bixby won its last visit against the Hornets at S.E. Williams Stadium, 21-14, in 2005.
5. Class 4A — No. 8 Oologah (6-3) at Collinsville (6-3)
Oologah has a chance to win the 4A-3 title, while fourth-place Collinsville can improve its postseason position. Each team is coming off a tight win last week as Oologah edged McLain 21-20 and Collinsville nipped Vinita 14-12.
Josh Collier, who has rushed for 1,219 yards and scored 20 TDs for Oologah this season, scored four touchdowns against Collinsville last year, but that wasn't enough as the Cardinals won 45-34. Collinsville tailback Merin Oakley has rushed for 950 yards and seven TDs.
6. Class 6A — No. 2 Union (8-1) at Enid (6-3)
The visiting Redskins look to complete their 12th consecutive undefeated district season. Union quarterback Chase Boyce completed 16-of-21 passes for 210 yards and two TDs in a 40-6 win over Enid last year. Boyce has passed for 1,152 yards and 12 TDs this year.
Union's defense will be challenged by Enid tailback Jonathan Burton, who has rushed for 1,178 yards and 11 TDs. Enid is headed to the playoffs, but needs a win to ensure it won't have to visit Jenks in the playoffs' first round.
7. Class 3A —No. 5 Berryhill (7-2) at Dewey (6-3)
These teams have met the two previous years with a playoff berth going to the winner. This time, both teams have clinched a playoff berth, but playoff position is at stake. Berryhill can clinch second place in District 3A-3 and will get to host a first-round playoff game with a win. Dewey needs to win by at least 12 points to avoid a first-round matchup at third-ranked Metro Christian.
Dewey won last year's meeting 20-13 as Casey Strate caught two TD passes, including the winner with three minutes left. Strate has 27 catches and 12 interceptions this season. Berryhill won 42-41 in triple overtime in 2007 as Tyler Johnson had two TD runs in overtime. Johnson has 591 rushing yards and 10 TDs this year.
8. Class 5A — Pryor (7-2) at Hale (5-4) (at East Side Sports Complex)
A few weeks ago, it appeared this game would decide a playoff berth in District 5A-3. However, Booker T. Washington's forfeits ensured both these teams are going to the playoffs, but this game will decide third and fourth place. The key for Pryor will be if it can stop Hale's Justin Fogle, who has rushed for 1,264 yards and 16 TDs.
9. Class 3A — Okmulgee (6-3) at No. 3 Metro Christian (9-0)
A week ago, it appeared this game would be for the 3A-4 title, but Metro clinched when Okmulgee lost 30-8 to Roland last week. Metro quarterback Beau Marsaln has passed for 1,560 yards and 23 TDs, plus he has rushed for two TDs in only 11 quarters of district play. Overall, Marsaln has passed for 2,372 yards and 33 TDs this year. For his career, Marsaln has 8,260 total yards and produced 103 TDs.
10. Class 5A — Stilwell (3-6) at No. 9 Central (7-2) (S.E. Williams Stadium)
Central can clinch its first playoff berth since 2003. Stilwell can reach the playoffs and knock Central out with a win plus an Ada win at McAlester. Central quarterback Demarco Cobbs is 5A's leading scorer with 112 points. If the game is close, Stilwell kicker Christian Keller could be a factor as he has kicked two late winning field goals this year.
Other good bets:
Barnsdall at Woodland, Bristow at Roland, Claremore Christian at Midway, Grove at Jay, Memorial at Muskogee, NOAH at Union JV (Thursday), Sapulpa at Claremore, Tahlequah Sequoyah at Colcord, Wagoner at Hilldale,
Other area games:
Bishop Kelley at Miami, Blackwell at Cascia Hall, Caney Valley at Verdigris, Claremore Sequoyah at Victory Christian, Coweta at Edison, Cushing at Mannford, East Central at Tahlequah, Fort Gibson at Broken Bow, Foyil at Quapaw, Haskell at Hominy, Holdenville at Beggs, Inola at Perkins, Kansas at Adair, Kellyville at Idabel, Liberty at Tonkawa, Locust Grove at Catoosa, Morris at Okemah, Morrison at Pawnee, Mounds at Christian Heritage, Nowata at Lincoln Christian, Pawhuska at Chelsea, Porter at Oaks, Prague at Henryetta, Prue at Depew, Skiatook at Rogers (Webster's Milton Stadium), Southwest Covenant at Summit Christian (Tuesday), Steelville (Mo.) at Summit Christian, Tecumseh at Cleveland, Vian at Chouteau, Vinita at McLain, Webster at Sallisaw, Wetumka at Kiefer, Wyandotte at Sperry.
