Trojans still cruising
Jenks puts it away early with 28 points in the first quarter.

 SAND SPRINGS — Jenks made sure there would be little drama in its quest to finish the regular season undefeated on Friday night.

Class 6A's top-ranked Trojans scored on all four of their first-quarter possessions, jumping to a 28-0 lead on their way to a 56-21 victory over Sand Springs in the District 6A-3 finale at Memorial Stadium.

Jenks (10-0 overall, 7-0 district) had its offense hitting on all cylinders throughout the first half as the Trojans rolled up 341 yards of offense and 18 first downs while facing just two third-down situations.

Cory Jones and Zack Langer each went over the century mark in rushing in the first half, with Jones totaling 117 yards and Langer needing just seven carries to amass 111 yards and three touchdowns.

Jones finished the night as Jenks' leading rusher, with 156 yards and a third-quarter touchdown, pacing a Trojan ground game that accumulated 326 yards.

While Jenks was dominant on the ground, Sawyer Kollmorgen found success through the air. The junior signal-caller finished the first half 7-of-8 for 124 yards and touchdown tosses to three receivers.

After recovering a fumble that ended Sand Springs' opening possession, Langer and Kollmorgen went to work. Jenks needed just three plays to go 33 yards, with Langer completing the scoring drive with a 7-yard run up the middle to give the visitors a 7-0 lead.

Sand Springs went three-and-out on its next three possessions, and the Trojans scored a touchdown after each. Kollmorgen's 6-yard scoring pass to Brandon Kitchens completed the Trojans' dominant first period.

Following Langer's third touchdown run of the first half, Sand Springs finally got going. Johnny Deaton opened the Sandite drive by finding Kaleb Hines over the middle for a 48-yard pass to move the ball to the Jenks 15.

Two plays later, Terrance Dixon bulled his way into the end zone from 8 yards out to pull the Sandites within 35-7.

Jenks, however, answered before halftime, with Kollmorgen's 16-yard strike to Jacob Bertelli giving the Trojans a 42-7 edge at intermission.

In their final game for Sand Springs, Deaton threw for 146 yards and a touchdown but was intercepted four times, while Dixon had 143 all-purpose yards and two touchdown runs.

Through all of the good, the bad and the ugly you have proven to all critics you just want to play football and have the talent to bring home the trophy!

good job student athletes. maybe next year we can keep some of our supossed coaches and parents honest and you guys can enjoy sports.theyve had their time to dream,and now need to let it go.

After losing to Jenks, the worst thing that could happen to Union was for Jenks to lose their head coach. The Trojans are now motivated to a new level and will crush any opposition in their way.

Congratulatons to the boys on both teams! We are proud of you all. High school football is not about the OSSAA, newspaper articles, or other people's opinions, its about you guys. Thanks for reminding us.

All fotball programs should remeber, charater comes before winning. Adults seem to think the kids care as much winning as the adults do, they are only trying to please there leadership, or parents. What we show them as far as leadership goes, is charater... is up to us...Careful what we tell them is OK to do...in the name of winning, how many parents support these kids when there don't make it to college to play and have nothing else but football??????
