Cascia Hall cruises by Blackwell

Cascia Hall ran its winning streak to 37 games Friday night with a 42-0 home victory over Blackwell.

But the number that matters more for the Class 3A top-ranked Commandos now is four. That's the number of victories Cascia needs for its third consecutive state championship.

Before shifting attention to the postseason, Cascia Hall coach Joe Medina wanted to reflect on Friday's accomplishments. The number four was a prevalent theme.

The victory secured the Commandos' fourth consecutive perfect regular season.

"I am proud of this senior class for that," said Medina, whose team wrapped up its fourth consecutive district title last week. "They came out and took care of business early tonight."

Two seniors in particular helped the Commandos (9-0, 7-0 District 3A-3) take care of the Maroons (1-9, 1-6). Quarterback Stephen Rouse threw three touchdown passes and running back Cet Caldwell had touchdown runs of 15 and 28 yards as the Commandos built the 42-0 advantage in the first half. Medina used the second half to allow younger players to get some varsity experience and save his starters for next Friday's playoff opener against Okmulgee.

With the start of the playoffs, Medina understands the accomplishments of the past mean little.

"Now it's a new season," Medina said. "When we come back to practice Monday, I think our kids will have a greater sense of urgency.

McJunkins rallies Wagoner to playoff bid

Highlights: Prince McJunkins' 2-yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Carter with eight seconds left gave 4A No. 9 Wagoner a 14-13 win at Hilldale. The victory clinched the fourth and final playoff berth out of District 4A-4 for Wagoner and eliminated Hilldale (5-5, 3-4) from playoff consideration.

Keys: Trailing 13-7 with two minutes remaining and possibly seeing their season come to an end, the Bulldogs (7-3, 5-2) drove 66 yards for the winning touchdown. The big play of the drive was McJunkins' 37-yard pass to Paul Golden down to Hilldale's 4-yard line with 54 seconds left.

Notes: McJunkins finished 11 of 21 passing for 127 yards and two interceptions.

Jay comes back, clinches district title

Highlights: Jay scored 19 consecutive points in the second half to rally for a 29-21 home victory over Grove that clinched the District 4A-3 championship.

Keys: The Bulldogs (7-3, 6-1) trailed 14-7 at halftime, but took a 20-14 lead after three quarters thanks to a 1-yard scoring run from Casey Loomis and Josh Ramsey's 2-yard touchdown reception from Brandon Edge.

In the fourth quarter, Delmo Crouch had a 22-yard interception return for a touchdown to increase the lead to 26-14.

Notes: Casey Bartley had touchdown runs of 36 and 28 yards for Grove (5-5, 3-4).

Sallisaw holds off Webster

Highlights: Jeromy Davenport had a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown runs as 4A No. 6 Sallisaw held off Webster 38-20 to wrap up the District 4A-4 championship.

Keys: Webster (3-7, 1-6) used a pair of touchdown passes from quarterback Doug Wiley, 28 yards to Jakii Moore and 43 yards to Mariano Dilliard to cut the Black Diamonds' (9-1, 6-1) lead to 24-20 in the fourth quarter. Wiley earlier had a 48-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Notes: Sallisaw quarterback Matt Oberste ran and threw for a touchdown.

Roland denies Bristow

Highlights: Alex Cole's 65-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter broke a 16-all tie and gave Roland a 22-16 win over Bristow. The Rangers (6-4, 5-2 District 3A-4) secure second place in the district and a home playoff game next week against No. 6 Claremore Sequoyah.

Keys: The loss eliminated Bristow (6-4, 3-4) from playoff consideration. After blowing a 10-0 first-half lead, the Pirates tied the game at 16-all in the fourth quarter on Josh Gatewood's 2-yard touchdown run.

Skiatook earns first victory

Highlights: Connor Appelberg had 83 yards rushing and three touchdowns to give Skiatook a 28-10 win at Rogers in a matchup of winless teams.

Keys: Trailing 10-0 in the second quarter, Appelberg scored on runs of 3 and 4 yards before halftime to give the Bulldogs (1-9, 1-6, District 5A-3) a 14-10 lead.

Notes: Rogers (0-10, 0-7) used a safety and Julian Harris' touchdown run and subsequent two-point conversion pass to Tyree Lacey to build the 10-0 lead.

Claremore Sequoyah rolls at Victory

Highlights: Class 3A No. 6 Claremore Sequoyah built a 41-0 halftime lead en route to a 54-14 triumph at Victory Christian.

Keys: Dakota Green had three rushing touchdowns, including a 53-yard scamper, and Michael Wangsgard added a pair of scoring runs for the Eagles (8-2, 5-2 District 3A-3).
