2008 champion

Cascia Hall: The top-ranked Commandos (9-0) enter the playoffs with a 37-game winning streak. Cascia, looking to win a state title for the third straight year, is solid in all phases. Senior quarterback Stephen Rouse doesn't make many mistakes. He has completed 71-of-107 passes for 1,136 yards with 20 touchdowns and only three interceptions. The "Blue Swarm" defense has held opponents to seven points or less in six of nine games.

Strong contender

Metro Christian (10-0): The Patriots have an explosive offense that averages 43.2 points per game. Metro appears to be well prepared for a deep playoff run after winning tight road games at Broken Bow and Checotah. In previous years, good Metro teams often have come up short in those type of games. Wideout-defensive back Jake Schooley is one of the area's top players.

Sleepers

Berryhill (8-2) and Claremore Sequoyah (8-2) tend to be overlooked because they are in the same district as Cascia Hall, but they are tough defensive teams with a history of playoff success. Sequoyah reached the 3A final last year after a 7-3 regular season. Berryhill won a state title in 2004 and Sequoyah in 2006.

Players to watch

Metro Christian's Beau Marsaln: Senior quarterback has passed for 2,718 yards and leads the state with 39 TD passes.

Cascia Hall's Cet Caldwell: Senior tailback has rushed for 1,206 yards and 15 TDs.

Berryhill's Tyler Johnson: Senior running back-linebacker has 710 rushing
yards with 13 TDs on offense and 131 tackles on defense.

Claremore Sequoyah's Michael Wangsgard: Senior tailback-linebacker made numerous clutch plays in the 2008 playoffs.

Dewey's Casey Strate: Senior wideout-defensive back is a big-play receiver and has 12 interceptions on defense.

Marquee matchup

A potential quarterfinal between Claremore Sequoyah and No. 2 Tuttle.

Looking ahead

Cascia Hall against Claremore Sequoyah or No. 2 Tuttle in the semifinals.

Predicted state final

Cascia Hall 24, Metro Christian 23

I'd watch out for Clinton they look to be coming on strong.

Jules, the actual paper or electronic addition has the playoff bracket which lists the teams and their record.

It'd be real swell if you could at least list the teams which are in the 3A playoffs this year. Some records for each would be good too, but I know that might be pushing it!
