Bartlesville 14, Owasso 7
OWASSO — Bartlesville overcame a powerful Owasso defense to come away with a 14-7 win over the Rams in the first round of the playoffs tonight at Owasso Stadium.
Bruins quarterback Kirby Schoenthaler passed for a touchdown and ran for another to send Bartlesville into the second round of the playoffs. His 7-yard touchdown pass to tight end Brad Martin gave the Bruins a 7-0 lead just before halftime.
Schoenthaler started the second half with a 16-play, 80-yard drive, capped off with his 4-yard touchdown rush up the middle.
Owasso's Aaron Colvin – an Oklahoma commit – answered on the next drive with a pair of third-down catches. He finished the drive off with a 3-yard rush into the end zone to cut the deficit to 14-7 with 23 seconds left in the quarter.
Colvin came up with four receptions of more than 10 yards on the Rams' final possession, but Bartlesville's defense came up with a pair of stuffed runs. Owasso quarterback Kason Key tried to run up the middle on fourth-and-4 but ran into a wall of Bruins defense to end the Rams' season.
Schoenthaler iced the game with a quarterback sneak on fourth-and-inches at the Bruins 47 with less than a minute left.
Rams starting quarterback Joe Lindsey left the game with seven
minutes left in the quarter after taking a hard hit from Bartlesville's Thompson. He did not return.

Bixby 17, Central 13
BIXBY — Bixby quarterback Kevin Lamb's 49-yard touchdown midway through the third quarter gave the eighth-ranked Spartans a 17-13 victory over No. 9 Central in a Class 5A first-round playoff game at Spartan Stadium on Friday night.
Central (8-3), making its first playoff appearance since 2003, played the second half without star quarterback Demarco Cobbs, who suffered a strained calf in the second quarter.
Bixby (7-4) advances to play at the Shawnee-Altus winner next Friday in the quarterfinals.
Tyron Garth's two touchdown runs gave Central a 13-10 halftime lead.
Garth's 13-yard TD run with 4:25 left in the half gave the Braves the lead one play after Cobbs converted a 4th-and-7 with a 20-yard scramble. Cobbs, who is the Tulsa World's top-ranked metro player, was helped off the field. He had 32 yards on nine carries.
Bixby's DeWitt Jennings III opened the scoring with an 18-yard TD run on the Spartans' first possession. Forty-nine seconds later, Garth's 74-yard TD run cut Bixby's lead to 7-6 with 8:46 left in the first quarter.
The Spartans answered with Jack Fiscus' 47-yard field goal.
Lamb returned to playing quarterback for the first time since Week 6. Lamb had been limited to other positions due to a broken hand.

Good job getting the job done Pirates. Way to lay it all on the line and bring home the win. Now, go finish the "unfinished business".
