JENKS — Big plays were the name of the game for Class 6A's top-ranked Jenks Trojans on Friday night at Hunter-Dwelley Stadium.

Sawyer Kollmorgen threw for 254 yards in the first half and Zack Langer added two touchdown runs as Jenks jumped out to a 35-0 lead at intermission on its way to a 44-6 victory over Yukon in a first-round playoff game Friday night.

Jenks (11-0) advances to a quarterfinal home game against 10th-ranked Edmond Memorial (8-3) on Friday. Edmond Memorial beat Mustang 38-7 in a first-round game.

Kollmorgen led a potent offensive attack that resulted in touchdowns on five of Jenks' six first-half possessions. The junior quarterback completed 14-of-17 throws in the first half and every completion went for 10 yards or more.

"We did exactly what we wanted to do," said Jenks interim head coach Loren Montgomery, whose team rolled up 23 first downs and 497 yards of total offense. "Every time we take the field, we expect to be successful, and we were again tonight."

After Yukon (5-6) opened the game with a 59-yard drive that ended with a missed 39-yard field goal, the Jenks defense allowed the Millers just 49 yards the rest of the half. Other than its opening possession, Yukon didn't cross midfield again until after intermission.

"We shut them down after that first drive," Montgomery said. "Our defense settled in and we saw what they were doing. After that, we were able to pin our ears back and go after them."

Following Yukon's missed field goal, Kollmorgen began his aerial assault. Four of the next seven Jenks plays were passes, with Kollmorgen finishing off the drive with a 24-yard scoring strike to a wide-open Brandon Kitchens to give Jenks a 7-0 lead with 5:45 left in the first quarter. The catch was part of a six-catch, 133-yard performance by Kitchens in the first half.

Kollmorgen tossed two more touchdown passes in the first quarter, finding Jacob Bertelli on a 27-yard score and Steven Carpenter on a 12-yard catch-and-run across the middle.

While Kollmorgen was finding success through the air, Langer was giving the Millers plenty of worries on the ground. Five of his nine first-half carries went for 10 or more yards. His 14-yard burst up the middle gave Jenks its 35-0 lead at halftime.

Langer finished with 200 yards on the ground and three touchdowns, with his final score of the night coming on a 46-yard run down the sideline to put Jenks up 42-0.
