Webster football coach exits

Jim Harper is exiting as Webster’s head football coach after 10 seasons.

“It was by mutual agreement with the (Webster) administration,” Harper said. “After 10 years it’s time to move on.”

The Warriors went 3-7 this season — their best record since 1998. Webster’s program has showed progress since ending a 36-game losing streak in 2007.

“I’ve been here a while and been through some ups and downs,” Harper said. “I feel that we have been able to get things turned around and headed in the right direction.”

Harper also is the Warriors’ wrestling coach and plans to finish the school year at Webster.

Webster is searching for Harper’s successor as football coach. Webster principal Jim Rector is accepting resumes from coaches through Dec. 11 at rectoji@tulsaschools.org. For more information, call 746-8000.
