Class 6A semifinals set for Saturday

Most of next weekend's high school football semifinal games are Saturday night, including the Class 6A matchup between No. 3 Broken Arrow and No. 2 Union at TU's Chapman Stadium.

"That's the only stadium (in the Tulsa area) that can hold all the people we expect will want to attend the game," Union athletic director Chuck Perry said as the OSSAA announced semifinal game times and sites Saturday. All games are at 7:30 p.m.

In the other 6A semifinal, No. 1 Jenks plays No. 4 Southmoore on Saturday at Putnam City High School. Jenks has to travel because semifinal games between teams from the East and West are played at a West site in odd-numbered years.

Dad, rankings are unofficial and have nothing to do with where playoff games are held. In odd-numbered years, such as this, semifinal games will be held on the west side if one team is from the east side of the state and the other is from the west. In even-numbered years, the game is on the east side in that event. It's that simple.

OMG! Jenks has to travel...what's this world comming to?

I hope Southmoore gives them more than they can handle...I'm sure it will be blamed on having to go on the road.
