High school football: Winning streaks

Correction
This story originally listed four schools under the wrong header. Davenport, Davis, Okeene and Fairfax should have been listed as 11-man schools. The story has been corrected.

Shattuck's national 8-man football winning streak ended with a 16-12 loss to Deer Creek-Lamont on Friday. Shattuck had won 93 games, eclipsing the record Morrison held for 14 years.

The following is a corrected list from what ran in Saturday's editions. Some teams that played 11-man were listed under 8-man (Class B teams from 1970-85 played 11-man football).

The current list of the winning streaks of 25 games or more in Oklahoma football history:

11-man football

Speaking of streaks

Shattuck also finishes with the second-longest streak for state championships. Morrison still holds that record.

A list of consecutive state football titles won:

7: Morrison (1988-94)

6: Jenks (1996-2001), Shattuck (2003-08)

5: Carl Albert (1997-2001)

4: Ada (1993-96), Frederick (1993-96), Morrison (2005-08)

3: Ada (1955-57), Balko (1965-67), B.T. Washington (1967-69), Clinton (1967-69), Clinton (2003-05), Davenport (1972-74), Enid (1964-66), Fairfax (1975-77), Marlow Central (1993-95), OKC Millwood (2000-02), Pioneer (1999-2001), Thomas (1955-57)

Notes: Morrison's streak of titles from 2005-08 included one year of 11-man football. Cascia Hall has won back-to-back state championships and has a chance to join this list with two more victories in this year's playoffs.
