Both Jenks and Southmoore bring high-octane offenses into Saturday's 7:30 p.m. Class 6A semifinal showdown at Putnam City High School.

The 12-0, top-ranked Trojans are averaging a whopping 45.5 points a game.

Fourth-ranked Southmoore (11-1) is scoring at a 36.8 clip.

In other words, play-makers abound on both offenses.

"They are athletic at every single position," Jenks interim head coach Loren Montgomery said.

"They can hit the big play at any time."

Leading the SaberCats' potent offense is quarterback Kendal Thompson, who has completed 151-of-230 passes for 2,500 yards and 25 touchdowns. He has a stable of top receivers in Nyko Symonds (33 catches, 732 yards, six touchdowns), Derek Serowski (26 catches, 522 yards, seven TDs) and Austin Haywood (22 catches, 480 yards, 10 TDs).

Thompson and Haywood have committed to OU.

Perhaps overlooked in this scenario is tailback Andrew Long, who has rushed for 1,518 yards and caught 36 passes for 482 yards.

"He seems to go unnoticed in articles I've seen," Montgomery said. "He's a good back."

Southmoore struggled in its opening playoff contest, narrowly defeating Lawton Eisenhower 34-32 before getting untracked last week in a 49-28 victory over Bartlesville.

Jenks romped to a 44-6 win over Yukon in the first round but had to rally late to beat Edmond Memorial 28-14 in the second round.

"Our defense got us out of some sticky situations last week, but for the most part our boys are playing well," Montgomery said. "If we can keep from shooting ourselves in the foot, we'll be fine."

Zack Langer had 320 all-purpose yards in the win over the Bulldogs. Langer leads 6A in rushing with 1,968 yards.

Junior quarterback Sawyer Kollmorgen has completed 141-of-206 passes for 2,211 and 21 touchdowns.

"Zack's having a great year," Jenks offensive lineman Jake Alexander said.

"It feels good whenever he scores. Sawyer has really matured since the playoffs last season. We know they are our big-play guys and we take protecting them very seriously."

Alexander said the team hasn't lost sight of its goal — another state championship.

"The coaches have kept us focused and our eye on the prize," he said.
