SAPULPA — Star Spencer's high-powered rushing attack on Saturday night punched a ticket to the Class 4A state championship game.

Behind the trio of Darwin Rideau, Terence Olds and Franky Jamison, who combined for 419 yards and six touchdowns on 35 carries, the Bobcats earned a spot in the title game by blowing out Sallisaw 46-13 at Sapulpa's Collins Stadium.

And for Star Spencer head coach Darrell Hall, it was quite a way to celebrate his 44th birthday.

"That's the best birthday present I've had in 44 years," said Hall, whose team improved to 11-2.

Despite the impressive final score, Star Spencer, who will take on OKC Douglass in the title game, had to come from behind to win its 10th game in a row.

Star Spencer makes its first championship game appearance since 1964 and Douglass its first since 1992.

On the second play from scrimmage, Jamison fumbled and Sallisaw (11-2) recovered the loose ball to set up its first possession inside Bobcats' territory.

The Black Diamonds then took advantage by scoring seven plays later on Matt Oberste's 2-yard TD run on fourth-and-goal just more than four minutes into the game.

But Hall and the Bobcats never panicked.

"I thought if we took care of the ball we'd be OK," said Hall.

Midway through the second quarter, Rideau scored the Bobcats' first TD on a 17-yard run. Star Spencer would take its first lead when Jamison punched home the two-point conversion to give the Bobcats an 8-7 advantage.

From there, Star Spencer never looked back.

Olds, who ran for 113 yards on 11 carries, scored the first of his two touchdowns on a 39-yard dash with 4:04 remaining in the second quarter.

Rideau, who finished with a game-high 195 rushing yards on 12 carries, added a 47-yard TD run to give Star Spencer a 20-7 halftime edge.

In the second half Rideau scored his final TD on a 55-yard run followed by Olds' 37-yard run and Jamison's 82-yarder — which put him over the 100-yard mark with 111 yards on 12 carries.
