OKLAHOMA CITY — Paige Eden struck out seven as No. 2 Caney Valley advanced to the Class 3A state championship game after a 3-0 semifinal shutout victory over Bethel.

"Our kids are really excited," coach Bryan Gardner said. "We got to the semis last year and we wanted to take another step this year. We're happy to have the chance to go play Saturday."

Macy Wright singled and scored in the first to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead.

After stealing second, the Caney Valley shortstop advanced on the groundout by Eden, then scored on a passed ball.

The Trojans pushed the lead to 2-0 in the fourth as Shelby Eden walked, stole second and scored on an RBI single from Malori Madden.

Caney Valley's final run came in the seventh as Paige Eden singled, moved up two bases on a sacrifice bunt by twin sister Shelby and scored on Jacey Hampshire's base hit.

Purcell 2, Tahlequah Sequoyah 1 (10 innings): No. 4 Tahlequah Sequoyah broke a scoreless tie in the 10th when Saharra Henson doubled and scored.

The Dragons (33-2) rallied for two runs in the bottom half of the 10th when Kaytie Spencer singled and scored on a double from Chelsea Akers.

Jazmine Koerner came on to run for Akers, scoring the game-winning run on a base hit by Michaela Hazlett.

Dragons pitcher Kayla Wyatt struck out 20.

This sets up a rematch of an Aug. 28 game at this same ballpark, in which Purcell defeated Caney Valley, 6-0, at the Hall of Fame Classic.

Saturday's championship game is set for 11 a.m.

Class 2A

Drumright 1, Colbert 0: In just their second year at state, the eighth-ranked Drumright Tornadoes are headed to their first state championship game following a 1-0 victory Friday over Colbert.

Drumright advances to face No. 3 Healdton at 1 p.m.

"Life's pretty good in Drumright," coach Blake Flewellan said.

The Tornadoes scored in the top of the seventh. Holly Mock, who struck out 15, singled and took second on an overthrow. Malica Marlin entered to run for Mock at second and scored on a hard grounder by Shelby Burris.

Colbert loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh. Drumright got the force at second, Mock struck out Katilyn Krob and catcher Ashley Harper picked off Katherine Hair to end the game.

"We had worked on pickoffs the last two days," Flewellan said. "We thought they might try to run on us."
