Oklahoma freshman Samaje Perine is college football's new single-game rushing leader. Perine passed the 400-yard mark early in the fourth quarter, getting to 427 yards on his second carry of the final period. Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon set the NCAA single-game rushing record last week with 408 yards against Nebraska. In the third quarter, Perine broke the OU school record of 294 yards set by Greg Pruitt against Kansas State on Oct. 23, 1971.
Just a week after Wisconin’s Melvin Gordon ran for a record 408, Perine topped the record just three minutes into the fourth quarter.
