Phaethon is a hardcore metal band hailing from Bixby. Its members are Garrett Goddard and Matt McDowell on guitar, singer Ryan Welch, Shane Marker on bass, Evan Pirtle on the keyboard and drummer Tye Mauch.
What is now Phaethon was originally only Ryan, Garrett and Shane playing together, until they were in need of a drummer and asked Tye to join them. Matt was added next when they needed an additional guitarist, and Evan came on when they decided to add more depth to their music by including keys.
Garrett, Ryan and Shane are juniors at Bixby High School, while Matt, Evan and Tye are seniors.
