What was your/the band's reaction when told you were picked to showcase at Dfest?

We were excited. There are a lot of great bands that will be playing.

Have you showcased at Dfest before? If so, what was it like? If not, what are looking forward to most during your live set?

Nope. We're just looking forward to getting to play in Oklahoma again. We're on the road so much that it's always nice to be able to play around home.

Is there a headlining act that you're going to drop everything to see (The Roots, Paramore, All-American Rejects, etc.)? If so, which one(s)?

The Roots

What are 5 indie/unsigned/local bands performing this year that you would recommend to a complete stranger as "must see"?

The Non, The Uglysuit, Ryan Lindsey, Jesse Aycock. And Mayola.

Do you have plans to attend the conference portion of the event? If so, who are you most wanting to see? If not, why?

I don't know if we'll be around for the conference

Where and when was your band formed, and how?

I've been playing with various lineups for about 2 and a half years, but the Midnight Shivers started playing with me about a year ago. We all have mutual friends and I was already touring and just wanted to put a band together and these were the people that were free to tour full time. We just got lucky that we all meshed together so well

Are you released/will you release an album this year? If so, what's the album title, if you've chosen one?

We are re-releasing "The Confiscation" on Ramseur Records on July 22nd

How do YOU describe your sound to people who haven't heard your music?

A healthy blend on folk, jangly rock, and soul

How do YOU describe your live act to people who haven't seen you perform live?

We concentrate on dynamics during the live set...we are really loud and chaotic for one song, and then soft and quiet for the next.

What's the most quirky, funny or intolerable aspect of your music?

The way tempos of songs change with every show we play--depending on our mood or stamina

What's the most quirky, funny or intolerable aspect of your current member lineup?

Well we've all been in a traveling circus at some point in our lives. Just a coincidence I guess.

Where is the oddest place that you've found inspiration for a song, and which song was it?

A hard wood floor inspired "Beloved, We Have Expired"

What does your band name mean? Or, why do you prefer being a solo artist?

It means nothing.

Are you going to be rich and famous because of what you've learned from, and the opportunity to play at, Dfest? In other words, what are you expecting to gain from this experience?

I guess. I think Dfest is only a small part of what bands need to learn about the music business. They need actual hands-on experience with touring and marketing and promotion and other DIY ventures to really learn anything.

Have you attended Dfest before as a music fan? If so, what was the most fun? If not, what are you most excited about?

I'm just excited to play in Oklahoma. I don't know much about Dfest though.

Will you use the public toilets (port-a-johns)?

Sure. I mean we usually go to the bathroom on the side of the road so Port-a-johns will be luxury toilets for us

In 10 words or less, describe Dfest for someone who is completely unfamiliar with the event:

I don't know because i don't know much about it. I've never been. From what I've heard though it would be: cookies, beer, sunburn, music, hotel, boots, egos, Tulsa, friends, aliens.

How has the price of gasoline changed how and when you perform and what gigs you choose to accept?

It hasn't changed much about the gigs we play, we are all just a little poorer
