What was your/the band's reaction when told you were picked to showcase at Dfest?
Sweet!
Have you showcased at Dfest before? If so, what was it like? If not, what are looking forward to most during your live set?
It was sweet. Looking forward to playing a bigger room this year for sure.
Is there a headlining act that you're going to drop everything to see (The Roots, Paramore, All-American Rejects, etc.)? If so, which one(s)?
I'm excited about Ghostland Observatory and Helmet.
What are 5 indie/unsigned/local bands performing this year that you would recommend to a complete stranger as 'must see'?
This is easy!
1. Callupsie
2. Gravity Propulsion System
3. Mayola
4. Trash Yourself!
5. Colourmusic
Do you have plans to attend the conference portion of the event? If so, who are you most wanting to see? If not, why?
Not very good at listening.
Where and when was your band formed, and how?
It was me and a Mexican dude named Dustin Sanchez. We started the band as a joke.
He quit the band and I still had some shows booked so I played them by myself and the rest is history.
Are you released/will you release an album this year? If so, what's the album title, if you've chosen one?
I released The Jungle Fever EP in May 2008. Trash Yourself! will be releasing an El Paso Hot Button remix album before the end of the year and I have a split 7 inch with a band from Mexico called Lipstick Terror due out sometime this year on TBA label out of Dallas. Busy.
How do YOU describe your sound to people who haven't heard your music?
Jon Spencer Blues Explosion meets Arab on Radar.
How do YOU describe your live act to people who haven't seen you perform live?
What's the most quirky, funny or intolerable aspect of your music?
The concept is kind of funny ... I feel like a con artist when I finish a show and people want more.
What does your band name mean? Or, why do you prefer being a solo artist?
No meaning.
Are you going to be rich and famous because of what you've learned from, and the opportunity to play at, Dfest? In other words, what are you expecting to gain from this experience?
More popularity means more money.
Have you attended Dfest before as a music fan? If so, what was the most fun? If not, what are you most excited about?
I like to think of myself as a music fan as well as a musician. I'm looking forward to just seeing all my band buddies from Oklahoma.
Will you use the public toilets (port-a-johns)?
Not unless I have to poop.
In 10 words or less, describe Dfest for someone who is completely unfamiliar with the event:
It's a music festival.Go!
How has the price of gasoline changed how and when you perform and what gigs you choose to accept?
Man, if I played shows for money, I would never play shows.
