1. What are the top three issues in your district?
1. Economic development. 2. Crime. 3. Streets, roads and bridges
2. Lawmakers approved a stand-still budget for the coming fiscal year. Critics blamed previous tax cuts for a drop in revenues, while tax cut supporters say such cuts spur the economy. Do you believe Oklahoma can sustain additional tax cuts?
Tax cuts were not proposed this year since corporation tax was down by 39 percent. We felt it prudent to stand still on this issue. Tax cuts were not the cause for a drop in revenue. In fact, sales tax increased by 6 percent which shows that tax cuts do stimulate the economy. I believe more tax cuts are in order in the coming years.
3. Do you think illegal immigration is a serious problem facing Oklahoma? Why or why not?
Yes -- illegals cause economic hardship on legal citizens. When illegals are paid wages, at least 50% of their money goes back to their country of origin, causing the money to go totally out of the American economy.
4. Do you believe voters should be required to produce identification at the polls?
Yes -- ABSOLUTELY. I have authored a bill almost every year to show proof of ID at the polls. It passes the House then goes to the Democrat Senate where it is killed. With so many illegals in our state this is the only way to preserve this most precious constitutional right.
5. Should the governor be taken out of the parole process?
Yes, except for violent crimes. Oklahoma is the only state left that requires the Governor to act on every recommended parole. Because the Governor is not acting on these recommendations in a timely manner it will cost the tax payers 40 million dollars over the next 10 years. Taking the Governor out of the parole process was the #1 recommendation by the audit of DOC.
