OU forward Blake Austin Griffin, 6-10, 251 pounds, is one of the highest rated and most decorated recruits ever at Oklahoma. Born in Oklahoma City, he won the Powerade Jam Fest dunk contest during McDonald's All-America week and opted to play for OU over Connecticut, Duke, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan State, North Carolina and Oklahoma State. He is the sixth McDonald's All-America signee in OU history.

The pre-health and exercise science major was a first-team All-Big 12 selection by league coaches and the Associated Press and was named to the Big 12 All-Rookie team.

The last Sooner freshman to average as many points as Griffin was Wayman Tisdale, an OU legend who went No. 2 in the NBA Draft to the Indiana Pacers in the 1985 draft.

Griffin is the brother of OU senior forward Taylor Griffin; the pair played together during the 2003-04 and 2004-05 high school seasons.
