How did you learn about Dfest?

We’re local girls and have been impressed by the festival’s growth in stature and size.

Why did you apply for Dfest?

Duh, it’s Dfest!

What is the most fun thing about performing live?

Definitely, the energy of the audience.

Have you performed at Dfest before? If so, what was your favorite part about it?

We performed last year. The crowd and the sound system were both awesome.

Will you be going to the music conference? If so, what are you most looking forward to?

Andrew W. K. and the yoga conference. Actually, Mary would like to do yoga with Andrew if that could be arranged.

What projects is your band currently working on?

We’ve got a full-length album coming out sometime toward the end of the year. And we’re always working on new songs.

How has the economy changed your band, touring, making music, etc.?

Um, less pyrotechnics. Nah, we do things pretty lo-fi, so it hasn’t really affected us yet.

As a musician, which three bands are you most looking forward to seeing at Dfest?

Mary: Gogol Bordello, Ra Ra Riot and Dead Sea Choir. Amy: Dengue Fever, Mates of State, Gogol Bordello.

Will you offer meet-and-greets after/before your shows? If so, when/where?

Come talk to us after the show at Dirty’s Tavern on Saturday, July 25th.

What's the funniest/weirdest story you have about any song you've written?

Well, our new song ‘Less-Glorious Revolution’ is about the looting of the imperial wine cellar at the Winter Palace during the Bolshevik Revolution.

What can fans expect during your Dfest performance?

Hot chicks with washboards? Sounds like a detergent commercial. Lots of twang and a few surprises.

How is Dfest different from any other show you do?

Dfest is held at our beloved stomping grounds of the Blue Dome District. We adore seeing the huge crowds bringing all that love downtown!

Where would you like your band to be two years from today?

Playing, writing, recording, and touring. Touring overseas!

That's the coolest fact about your fans?

I’m always surprised how much babies love us. They can be so picky. Actually, we love that we have a pretty diverse fan base.

What tips do you offer to "beat the heat" at this July festival?

Mary: A parasol and a fan. Amy: Beer (okay, water too).

What's the weirdest/quirkiest fact about any member of your band?

We’re pretty sure the bass-player (Cris) isn’t from this planet. It's your turn! Ask a question … and answer it!

Where does your band name come from?

We liked the images that the words evoke. Plus, I guess we’re a bit subversive. You can always Google it.
