When Carrie Underwood tried out for the fourth season of "American Idol," she was a student at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah.

She ended up the winner, boosting her to become a country singer-songwriter who has sold millions of albums and becoming the first-ever female artist to win back-to-back Academy of Country Music Awards for Entertainer of the Year. She did that in 2009 and 2010.

She has won Grammy Awards, Billboard Music Awards and American Music Awards, as well as being the top female vocalist by the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association. She has also been a Golden Globe Award nominee.

Underwood is a member of the Grand Ole Opry and the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.
